Kelvin Amayo
Kelvin Nosa JR Amayo (born January 9, 1992) is a Nigerian-Canadian basketball player for the Rivers Hoopers of the Nigerian Premier League (NPL) and Basketball Africa League (BAL). High school and college career Amayo was born in Montreal, Canada, to Nigerian parents Faith and Charles Amayo. Amayo played high school basketball with St. Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey, where he averaged 13 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists per game. He transferred to NIA School, where he upped his statistics to 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game, while leading NIA to the nation's number 6 among United States prep schools. He enrolled in Marshall University in 2012, where he played for the Thundering Herd men's basketball team, appearing in three games before electing to transfer. 2025 BAL Season
The 2025 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 5, will be the 5th season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The season will begin on 5 April and end on 14 June 2025 with the final. The playoffs and finals will be held in Pretoria, South Africa, for the first time. Petro de Luanda were the defending champions, having won the previous season, but lost in the final to Al Ahli Tripoli, who became the first Libyan team to win the BAL championship. As winners, Al Ahli Tripoli earned the right to play in the 2025 FIBA Intercontinental Cup. The Nigerian Premier Basketball League, often abbreviated to the NPL, is the pre-eminent men's professional basketball List of professional sports leagues, league in Nigeria. The league consists of sixteen teams who are categorized into two conferences based on the geographical location. These conferences are Savannah and the Atlantic. 2024 Rivers Hoopers Season
The 2024 Rivers Hoopers season is the 19th season in club history and the second season of the team in the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The Hoopers will play in the Nigerian Premier League (NPL) once again as defending champions. The Hoopers enforced their team with American guard Will Perry, as well as with Devine Eke. Eke and Perry were named to the All-BAL Second Team after the conclusion of the season. They were allocated in the Sahara Conference, and surprisingly won the conference and sealed their first ever playoff spot.
