Janda Baik
Janda Baik (Bentong Malay: ''Jando Baék)'' is a village in Bentong District, Pahang, Malaysia. It is about 45 km from Kuala Lumpur and 800 m above sea level. It was estimated to have a population of around 2,820 in 2019. Janda Baik was first settled by three Bentong villagers in 1930 who moved when the town was flooded in 1926. More villagers settled there afterwards, and the village was frequently visited by the Sultan of Pahang. Although it formerly only focused on the agricultural industry, Janda Baik also focuses on the electronics and tourism industries today. However, the development of agriculture and tourism in Janda Baik has led to threats of deforestation that will affect the ecosystem, erode cultural and traditional values, and disrupt the villagers' daily lives, which has led to protests from villagers. Jawi Script
Jawi (; ace, Jawoë; Kelantan-Pattani: ''Yawi''; ) is a writing system used for writing several languages of Southeast Asia, such as Acehnese, Banjarese, Kerinci, Maguindanaon, Malay, Minangkabau, Tausūg, and Ternate. Jawi is based on the Arabic script, consisting of all of the original 31 Arabic letters, and six additional letters constructed to fit the phonemes native to Malay, and an additional phoneme used in foreign loanwords, but not found in Classical Arabic, which are ''ca'' ( ), ''nga'' ( ), ''pa'' ( ), ''ga'' ( ), ''va'' ( ), and ''nya'' ( ). Ghazali Shafie
Tun Muhammad Ghazali bin Shafie ( ms, محمد غزالي بن شافعي, label= Jawi, script=arab, italic=unset; 22 March 1922 – 24 January 2010) was a Malaysian politician and diplomat. He served under the administrations of four Prime Ministers, most notably as Minister of Home and Foreign Affairs from 1973 to 1984. Biography Ghazali was born in 1922 in Kuala Lipis, Pahang. He was of Minangkabau descent from Rao, West Sumatra. He was part of the clandestine resistance to the Japanese occupation of Malaya in World War II. He then studied at the University of Wales and the London School of Economics. After a career in the civil service, Ghazali entered politics. He served as Home and Information Minister from 1973 to 1981, and was then appointed as Foreign Minister until 1984. The ''New Straits Times'' is an English-language newspaper published in Malaysia. Deforestation or forest clearance is the removal of a forest or stand of trees from land that is then converted to non-forest use. Deforestation can involve conversion of forest land to farms, ranches, or urban use. The most concentrated deforestation occurs in tropical rainforests.
