Jodi Habush Sinykin
Jodi Habush Sinykin (born Jodi Lynn Habush; May 1967) is an American lawyer and Democratic politician from Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. She is a member of the Wisconsin Senate, representing Wisconsin's 8th Senate district since 2025. Early life and career Jodi Habush Sinykin was born Jodi Lynn Habush in May 1967. She was raised in Fox Point, Wisconsin, graduating from Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wisconsin, in 1985. She went on to attend the University of Michigan, earning her bachelor's degree with honors in 1989. Sinykin attended Harvard Law School, obtaining her J.D. in 1992. After law school, she resided for a short time in Chicago and clerked for a federal district court judge. In 1995, she and her husband, Dan Sinykin, purchased Roller Fabrics, a textile manufacturer, and moved back to Milwaukee. Wisconsin's 8th State Senate District
The 8th Senate district of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts of the Wisconsin Senate. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district includes most of Ozaukee County along with northeastern Milwaukee County, southeast Washington County, and northeast Waukesha County. It contains the cities of Cedarburg, Port Washington, and Mequon, as well as the villages of Bayside, Butler, Fox Point, Grafton, Lannon, Menomonee Falls, River Hills, Thiensville, Whitefish Bay, and most of the villages of Brown Deer and Germantown. The Great Lakes–St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact is a legally binding interstate compact among the U.S. states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Wisconsin Elections Commission
The Wisconsin Elections Commission is a bipartisan regulatory agency of the state of Wisconsin established to administer and enforce election laws in the state. The Wisconsin Elections Commission was established by a 2015 act of the Wisconsin Legislature which also established the Wisconsin Ethics Commission to administer campaign finance, ethics, and lobbying laws. The two commissions began operation on June 30, 2016, replacing the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board (GAB), which was abolished. Germantown, Wisconsin
Germantown is a village in Washington County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 20,917 at the 2020 census. The village surrounds the Town of Germantown, and is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. History The land that became Germantown was originally inhabited by members of the Potawatomi tribe. The Potawatomi surrendered the land that became Germantown to the United States Federal Government in 1833 through the ''1833 Treaty of Chicago'', which (after being ratified in 1835) required them to leave Wisconsin by 1838. A supermajority is a requirement for a proposal to gain a specified level of support which is greater than the threshold of one-half used for a simple majority. Supermajority rules in a democracy can help to prevent a majority from eroding fundamental rights of a minority, but can also hamper efforts to respond to problems and encourage corrupt compromises at times when action is taken. Alberta Darling (born April 28, 1944) is an American educator, politician and former member of the Wisconsin State Senate. She represented Wisconsin's 8th State Senate district from 1993 through 2022 as a Republican. The Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park is a technology manufacturing complex located in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. A puppy mill, also known as a puppy farm, is a commercial dog breeding facility characterized by quick breeding and poor conditions. Although no standardized legal definition for "puppy mill" exists, a definition was established in ''Avenson v. Zegart'' in 1984 as "a dog breeding operation in which the health of the dogs is disregarded to maintain a low overhead and maximize profits". They are cited as being a result of increased demand for household pets, especially after World War II.
