It was self-released on 10 October 2007 as a download, followed by a retail release internationally through XL Recordings on 3 December 2007 and in North America through TBD Records on 1 January 2008. It was Radiohead's first release after their recording contract with EMI ended with their album '' Hail to the Thief'' (2003). Radiohead began work on ''In Rainbows'' in early 2005. The music video, directed by Garth Jennings and Adam Buxton, features Radiohead performing in their studio with cameras attached to bicycle helmets. Writing Radiohead performed an early version of "Jigsaw Falling into Place" on their 2006 tour, with the working title "Open Pick". Mike Diver of '' Drowned in Sound'' described it as a "bass-propelled pop-rock head-bobber". The lyrics were inspired by the chaos witnessed by the singer, Thom Yorke, when drinking in Oxford. He said: "The lyrics are quite caustic—the idea of 'before you're comatose' or whatever ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

OK Computer
''OK Computer'' is the third studio album by the English rock band Radiohead, released on 21 May 1997. With their producer, Nigel Godrich, Radiohead recorded most of ''OK Computer'' in their rehearsal space in Oxfordshire and the historic mansion of St Catherine's Court in Bath in 1996 and early 1997. They distanced themselves from the guitar-centred, lyrically introspective style of their previous album, '' The Bends''. ''OK Computer''s abstract lyrics, densely layered sound and eclectic influences laid the groundwork for Radiohead's later, more experimental work. The lyrics depict a dystopian world fraught with rampant consumerism, capitalism, social alienation, and political malaise, with themes such as transport, technology, insanity, death, modern British life, globalisation and anti-capitalism. In this capacity, ''OK Computer'' is said to have prescient insight into the mood of 21st-century life. The band used unconventional production techniques, including natural ... 99 Problems
"99 Problems" is the third single released by American rapper Jay-Z from '' The Black Album''. It was released on April 27, 2004. The chorus of "I got 99 problems, but a bitch ain't one" is taken from the Ice-T song "99 Problems", from the album ''Home Invasion'' (1993). In the song, Jay-Z tells a story about dealing with rap critics, racial profiling from a police officer who wants to search his car, and an aggressor. The song reached number 30 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Production The track was produced by Rick Rubin, his first hip hop production in many years. Rubin provided Jay-Z with a guitar riff and stripped-down beat that were once Rubin's trademarks. In creating the track, Rubin used some classic 1980s sample staples such as " The Big Beat" by Billy Squier, " Long Red" by Mountain, and "Get Me Back On Time" by Wilson Pickett. Featuring the same Billy Squier drum beat sample, Dizzee Rascal released " Fix Up, Look Sharp" in August 2003 prior to ''The Black Albums re ... Kid A
''Kid A'' is the fourth studio album by the English rock band Radiohead, released on 2 October 2000 by Parlophone. It was recorded with their producer, Nigel Godrich, in Paris, Copenhagen, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. Departing from their earlier sound, Radiohead incorporated influences from electronic music, krautrock, jazz and 20th-century classical music, with a wider range of instruments and effects. The singer, Thom Yorke, wrote impersonal and abstract lyrics, cutting up phrases and assembling them at random. In a departure from industry practice, Radiohead released no singles and conducted few interviews and photoshoots. Instead, they released short animations and became one of the first major acts to use the Internet for promotion. Bootlegs of early performances were shared on filesharing services, and ''Kid A'' was leaked before release. In 2000, Radiohead toured Europe in a custom-built tent without corporate logos. The National Anthem (Radiohead Song)
"The National Anthem" is a song by the English band Radiohead, released on their fourth album, ''Kid A'' (2000). The song is Ostinato#Riff, set to a repeating bassline and features horns playing free jazz, influenced by the jazz musician Charles Mingus. Recording Radiohead's singer, Thom Yorke, wrote the "National Anthem" bassline when he was 16. Instead, they saved it for their next album, ''Kid A'' (2000). The band returned to "The National Anthem" in mid-1999 while recording "Kid A" in Gloucestershire. Yorke played bass, and his vocals were processed with a ring modulator. Jonny Greenwood added ondes Martenot and sounds Sampling (music), sampled from radio stations. Amnesiac (album)
''Amnesiac'' is the fifth studio album by the English rock band Radiohead, released on 30 May 2001 by EMI. It was recorded with the producer Nigel Godrich in the same sessions as Radiohead's previous album '' Kid A'' (2000). Radiohead split the work in two as they felt it was too dense for a double album. The final track, "Life in a Glasshouse", is a collaboration with the jazz trumpeter Humphrey Lyttelton and his band.
