Iftikhar Arif
Iftikhar Hussain Arif ( ur, ; born 21 March 1944), is an Urdu poet, scholar and littérateur from Pakistan. His style is romantic Urdu poetry. He has headed the Pakistan Academy of Letters and the National Language Authority. He has received the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Presidential Pride of Performance awards, which are the highest literary awards given by the Government of Pakistan. Career He studied Urdu, English and Sanskrit. Iftikhar Arif did his M.A. in 1965 - at the Lucknow university, then studied journalism at New York University, before migrating to Karachi, Pakistan and working for Radio Pakistan as a newscaster and then went on to work for Pakistan Television Corporation (Karachi Center) where he teamed up with Obaidullah Baig for the PTV program ''Kasauti''. Hilal-e-Imtiaz
The ''Hilaal-e-Imtiaz'' (; ), also spelled and transliterated as Hilāl-e-Imtiyāz, is the second-highest (in the hierarchy of "Hilal") civilian award and honour given to both civilians and military officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces by the Government of Pakistan. It recognises individuals who have made an "especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of Pakistan, world peace, cultural or other significant public endeavors". It is a civilian award, and not limited to the citizens of Pakistan. The honour is restricted to individuals who have made outstanding contributions in their fields that led to international recognition for the state. It is awarded in the fields of literature, arts, sports, medicine and science for civilians. Harris Khalique
Harris Khalique ( ur, ; born 20 October 1966) is a Pakistani poet in Urdu and English and a civil society activist. Khalique has authored nine collections of poetry and two books of non-fiction. In March 2018, he received the Presidential Pride of Performance Award from the state of Pakistan as an acknowledgement of his contributions to poetry. In 2013, he was awarded the UBL Literary Excellence Award in the category of Urdu poetry for his collection ''Melay Mein''. He is also a University of Iowa Honorary Fellow in Writing. Obaidullah Baig
Obaidullah Baig (1 October 1936 – 22 June 2012) ( ur, عبيدالله بيگ) was a scholar, Urdu writer/novelist, columnist, media expert and documentary filmmaker from Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Personal life Born in Rampur, India in 1936, Baig migrated to Karachi with his family in the early 1950s following the independence of Pakistan in 1947, and settled in Karachi, Pakistan. Baig had no formal education beyond his intermediate college. Career Aslam Azhar, Pakistani television's pioneering personality helped Baig and introduced him to the TV viewing public in Pakistan.
