Holmview is a residential suburb in the City of Logan, Queensland, Australia. In the , Holmview had a population of 2,358 people. Geography It is located south-west of Brisbane, the state capital. Much of the suburb is undeveloped bush. Part of the suburb's northern border is marked by the Logan River. The Beenleigh railway line passes through this northern section. The Logan River Road, a major arterial, crosses Holmview from east to west. History On 1 May 1975, Holmview was designed a locality by Queensland Place Names Board. It was designated as a suburb on 7 February 2003. However, the name has a longer history with Holmview railway station being mentioned in railway timetables in 1886, the railway line to Beenleigh having opened on 27 July 1885. Logan City is a local government area situated within the south of the Brisbane metropolitan area in South East Queensland, Australia. Loganlea is a suburb in the City of Logan, Queensland, Australia. In the , Loganlea had a population of 7,321 people. Geography The eastern boundary of Loganlea is marked by a winding section of the Logan River. The north of the suburb is aligned with the Beenleigh railway line. The western boundary follows part of both Scrubby Creek and Kingston Road. The Logan Motorway crosses the northern tip of Loganlea where access is provided via Kingston Road. Loganlea State High School
Loganlea State High School (LSHS) is a secondary school in Neridah Street at Loganlea, Logan City, Queensland, Australia, for students between years 7 and 12. The school was established in 1981 between the Logan River and the Beenleigh railway line. It has an enrolment of 650 students and over 100 staff members. The school is co-educational with students from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Three year 8 scholarships are offered: an overall year, mathematics and science laptop, and one for dance. Loganlea State High operates a working property which enables learning opportunities in animal husbandry and farming. ''The Logan Witness'' was a weekly English-language newspaper published in Beenleigh, Queensland, Australia from 9 February 1878 to 10 June 1893. The paper was four pages, double demy (57 cm x 90 cm) in size and issued on a Saturday. History Established by proprietors William Watts and Edward Powell in 1878, ''The Logan Witness'' was the first newspaper to emanate from the Beenleigh district and was originally published as ''The Logan Witness and Southern Districts Advertiser''. Initially optimistic that the rapid advancement of the district entitled it to journalistic representation, the paper struggled financially and was sold to Mr John Hinchcliffe by April 1879. Beenleigh Railway Station
Beenleigh railway station is located on the Beenleigh line in Queensland, Australia. It is one of two stations serving the suburb of Beenleigh in City of Logan, the other being Holmview. History Beenleigh station opened in 1885 at its original location at the same time as the opening of the line. It served as the terminus of the line until the South Coast line opened to Southport on 25 January 1889. It became the terminus of the line again when the South Coast line closed on 30 June 1964. The station was reopened at its current location on 12 March 1988 in time for World Expo 88. The original 1885 station building was relocated to the Beenleigh Historical Village. On 25 February 1996, the line was again extended south when the Gold Coast line opened to Helensvale. The Beenleigh railway line is a suburban railway line extending east-southeast from Brisbane Central railway station, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Queensland Rail City network. History Originally known as the Logan railway line, the line opened to Loganlea in April 1885 being the first section of the South Coast line which was opened beyond Beenleigh to Southport in 1889. The original city terminus of the line was Stanley St, South Brisbane until a dual track line was constructed from Dutton Park to South Brisbane opposite the Victoria Bridge opening in 1891. The railway originally approximately paralleled Fairfield Road between Dutton Park and Yeronga. Following the 1893 Brisbane flood, the Fairfield Deviation realigned the route above the flood level onto the current alignment.
