Heart's Delight-Islington is a town on the south side of Trinity Bay in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, located on Newfoundland and Labrador Route 80. The Post Office was established in 1954. The first Postmistress was Maggie Chislett. Location The town is located on Route 80 between Cavendish and Heart's Desire. It is about 15 minutes from the Pitcher's Pond Golf Course, and 30 minutes from Carbonear in Conception Bay. Etymology There are severals stories about the origin of the name "Heart's Delight." One is that it was named by a traveler who arrived in the cove and found his "Heart's Delight" there:...the name Heart's Delight was given to create a favourable impression. Local tradition maintains that the community was given its name by weary travellers who were "delighted" by the beauty of the place. Trinity Bay, Newfoundland And Labrador
Trinity Bay is a large bay on the northeastern coast of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Bay along with Placentia Bay to the southwest define the isthmus of Avalon from which the Avalon Peninsula lies to the east of the main landmass of Newfoundland Island. The maximum depth of the bay is about . Major fishing communities include Trinity and Heart's Content. Miss Teen Newfoundland & Labrador Pageant
The Miss Teen Newfoundland & Labrador Pageant is a teen pageant based out of St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada. Founded in 1996, the pageant sets out to annually showcase the talents and achievements and build the confidence of the province's brightest young women, between the ages of 13 and 18. It is the longest-running teen pageant in the province, one of the most widely recognized and successful pageants in Canada, and is one of the select few pageant events in Canada to be televised. The winner becomes an active ambassador and role model for the province's young women, and over the course of her reign, tours the province, volunteering at various community festivals and charitable events. She is also the recipient of a formidable prize package, including a $1,500 academic scholarship. 2021 Canadian Census
The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census. It recorded a population of 36,991,981, a 5.2% increase from 2016. Kingskerswell
Kingskerswell (formerly Kings Carswell, or Kings Kerswell) is a village and civil parish within Teignbridge local government district in the south of Devon, England. The village grew up where an ancient track took the narrowest point across a marshy valley and it is of ancient foundation, being mentioned in the Domesday Book. It has a church dating back to the 14th century and the ruins of a manor house of similar date. The coming of the railway in the 1840s had a large effect on the village, starting its conversion into a commuter town. The village is a major part of the electoral ward called Kerswell-with-Combe. This ward had a population of 5,679 at the 2011 census. Route 80, also known as Trinity Road, is a north–south highway along the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland. It connects the communities along the eastern side of Trinity Bay with the Trans Canada Highway (TCH). Route description Route 80 begins at an interchange between Route 1 (TCH) and Route 81 (Markland Road, exit 28 on Route 1) at the northern edge of Whitbourne. It heads north to pass through Blaketown and along the shores of Dildo Pond before following the coastline to pass through South Dildo, where it has an intersection with a local road leading to Old Shop, and Dildo. Area code 709 is the telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for the entire Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. History The first telephone system was installed in Newfoundland in 1885, but domestic long-distance calls within the Dominion of Newfoundland could be placed on a limited basis only in 1921. The first long-distance call from Newfoundland to Canada was made on January 10, 1939, by using a shortwave radio link operated by the Canadian Marconi Company in Montréal. Shortwave radio also carried calls from St. John's to London, England. When planning was completed for the original NANP area codes in 1947, Newfoundland had not yet become of part of the Dominion of Canada.
