Hangzhou Bay New District
Hangzhou Bay New Zone () or Hangzhou Bay New Area is a development area in Cixi, Ningbo, Zhejiang province, China. History The government of Ningbo decided to set up the new area for economic development in 2001. The area is also known by a number of names such as The Zhejiang Cixi Export Processing Zone or the Hangzhou Bay New Zone. The economic development district is administered by the Zhejiang Cixi Economic Development Zone Administrator Committee which itself is subordinated to the Ningbo municipal government. The development zone represents a strategic location in the southern tip of the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone which is the manufacturing heartland of the region. It is also strategically near the emerging Chinese financial centre Shanghai, and manufacturing hubs of Suzhou and Hangzhou. Cixi City
Cixi (), alternately romanized as Tzeki, is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of the sub-provincial city of Ningbo, in the north of Zhejiang province, China. As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,829,488. Its urban agglomeration built-up (or metro) area, largely contiguous with Cixi plus the county-level city of Yuyao, had 3,083,520 inhabitants. History Cixi is a city with a rich culture and a long history. It was part of the state of Yue in the Spring and Autumn period (770-476 B.C.). The county was set up in the Qin Dynasty. At first it was called “Gouzhang” and has been using the name of “Cixi” since the Kaiyuan reign of the Tang Dynasty (738 A.D.). Ningbo
Ningbo (; Ningbonese: ''gnin² poq⁷'' , Standard Mandarin pronunciation: ), formerly romanized as Ningpo, is a major sub-provincial city in northeast Zhejiang province, People's Republic of China. It comprises 6 urban districts, 2 satellite county-level cities, and 2 rural counties, including several islands in Hangzhou Bay and the East China Sea. Ningbo is the southern economic center of the Yangtze Delta megalopolis, and is also the core city and center of the Ningbo Metropolitan Area. Zhejiang ( or , ; , Chinese postal romanization, also romanized as Chekiang) is an East China, eastern, coastal Provinces of China, province of the People's Republic of China. Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone
The Yangtze Delta or Yangtze River Delta (YRD, or simply ) is a triangle-shaped megalopolis generally comprising the Wu Chinese-speaking areas of Shanghai, southern Jiangsu and northern Zhejiang. The area lies in the heart of the Jiangnan region (literally, "south of the River"), where the Yangtze River drains into the East China Sea. Having fertile soil, the Yangtze Delta abundantly produces grain, cotton, hemp and tea. In 2018, the Yangtze Delta had a GDP of approximately US$2.2 trillion, about the same size as Italy. Hangzhou Bay Bridge
Hangzhou Bay Bridge () is a long highway bridge with two separate cable-stayed portions, built across the mouth of Hangzhou Bay in the eastern coastal region of China. It connects the municipalities of Jiaxing and Ningbo in Zhejiang province. Construction of the bridge was completed on June 14, 2007, and an opening ceremony was held on June 26, 2007. The bridge was opened to public May 1, 2008, after a considerable period of testing and evaluation. The bridge shortened the highway travel distance between Ningbo and Shanghai from to and reduced travel time from 4 to 2 hours. At in length, Hangzhou Bay Bridge was among the ten longest trans-oceanic bridges. Yangshan Port
Yangshan Port ( Chinese: , p ''Yángshān Gǎng'', Wu ''Yan-se Kaon''), formally the Yangshan Deep-Water Port (, p ''Yángshān Shēnshuǐ Gǎng'', Wu ''Yan-se Sen-sy Kaon''), is a deep water port for container ships in Hangzhou Bay south of Shanghai. The Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan is the busiest port in the world in terms of cargo tonnage. It handled 888.96 million tons of cargo in 2015.
