Huge is a creative growth acceleration company, founded in Dumbo, Brooklyn, in 1999. History Huge was founded by David Skokna, Sasha Kirovski, Gene Liebel, and Aaron Shapiro. Skokna and Kirovski, friends and colleagues at Deutsch, first established the company out of Skokna's apartment in 1999. Huge's first client was IKEA who hired the firm to redesign its websites. Between 2005 and 2010, Huge also won and launched web design initiatives for JetBlue, CNN, Reuters, Four Seasons, Pepsi, and Target. Dumbo, Brooklyn
Dumbo (or DUMBO, short for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The area known as Dumbo used to be known as Gairville. It encompasses two sections: one located between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, which connect Brooklyn to Manhattan across the East River, and another that continues east from the Manhattan Bridge to the Vinegar Hill area. Aaron Shapiro is an American entrepreneur, marketing executive, and investor based in New York City. Shapiro co-founded the email marketing software company Silverpop in 1999. In 2005 he joined the experience design and digital marketing agency Huge as one of four co-founders, becoming CEO in 2010. The Pepsi Refresh Project (PRP) was a 2010 initiative by PepsiCo to award $20 million in grants to individuals, businesses and non-profits that promote a new idea that has a positive impact on their community, state, or the nation. The project is completely separate from the Pepsi Corporate Foundation and uses money budgeted for marketing. More than 80 million votes were registered and, at its peak, 37% of Americans were aware of the Refresh Project. This project has been the focus of a 2013 Harvard Business School case ("The Pepsi Refresh Project: a Thirst for Change"), describing the process that Pepsi's marketing team, led by senior marketing director Ana Maria Irazabal, went through to come up with this idea.
