Haikou Century Bridge
Haikou Century Bridge () is a cable-stayed bridge in Haikou city, the capital of Hainan province. The bridge was built to link the main part of Haikou city to Haidian Island, a district separated from Hainan Island by the Haidian River. Haikou Century Bridge crosses at the mouth of the river approximately 50 metres west of Haikou New Port. History The project was started in 1998 and was opened to traffic on August 1, 2003. Haikou Century Bridge is the largest bridge on Hainan Island spanning 2,683 meters in length and 29.8 meters in width. It is available for automotive traffic only. Haidian Island
Haidian Island () is an island that forms part of the city of Haikou, Hainan Province, China. It is separated from the main part of Haikou by the Haidian River. The north coast faces the Qiongzhou Strait. The east coast faces Xinbu Island, separated by part of the Nandu River. The west coast faces Haikou Bay. Both Renmin Avenue and Heping Avenue are the main streets on the island. The former that runs through the middle of the island from the south at the Renmin Bridge to the north shore at the newly built Baishamen Park, which contains an amusement park. Haikou New Port
Haikou New Port () was a seaport in Hainan, China. The site was renovated in the 2010s and the port removed. Formerly known as the Inner Harbour, this port was located on the southern side of the mouth of the Nandu River 7 km east of Haikou Xiuying Port. Before 2016, it was main distribution centre for cargo entering Hainan, including seafood, with a wholesale fish market located at the far eastern end. The wholesale fish market was now located in the middle of Xinbu Island. Haikou New Port was also a major port for immigration onto Hainan Island. The site was first used as a seaport during the Song dynasty. In 1953, the port was structurally improved with the addition of cement foundations. In 1973, the Guangdong provincial government invested nearly 200 million RMB for an expansion of the site.
