Guaraná (soft Drink)
Guaraná is a soft drink that originated from the guarana plant. History The processing of the fruit syrup began in Brazil in 1905 by Fara, a physician from the city of Resende, Rio de Janeiro. A soft drink factory, Guaraná Cyrilla, was launched by F. Diefenthaller in 1906 in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul. The drink initially was astringent and markedly bitter, and therefore its popularity did not spread. The soft drink was created by Pedro Baptista de Andrade who sold the formula to Antarctica who then developed a process to eliminate the astringency and bitterness, emphasizing the characteristic flavor and aroma of the fruit, launching Guaraná Champagne Antarctica in 1921. Today, there are several brands of guarana soda available throughout Brazil. Guaraná Antarctica
Guaraná Antarctica is a guaraná-flavoured soft drink, originating in Brazil. It was created in 1921 by Pedro Baptista de Andrade for Companhia Antarctica Paulista. The drink is produced in four countries: Portugal, Brazil, Argentina and Japan. In Brazil, it is also available as the low calorie version Guaraná Antarctica Zero. Coca-Cola
Coca-Cola, or Coke, is a carbonated soft drink manufactured by the Coca-Cola Company. Dolly is a Brazilian soft drink company based in Diadema, São Paulo which has operated in the Southeast Region of Brazil since its founding in 1987. Its main product is Dolly Guaraná. Its mascot, ''Dollynho'', has appeared in the company's advertisements since 2004. Due to its exposure on national television, ''Dollynho'' became a popular internet meme in Brazil. Fanta is an American-owned German brand of fruit-flavored carbonated soft drinks created by Coca-Cola Deutschland under the leadership of German businessman Max Keith. There are more than 200 flavors worldwide. Fanta originated in Germany as a Coca-Cola alternative in 1940 due to the American trade embargo of Nazi Germany, which affected the availability of Coca-Cola ingredients. Kuat (drink)
Kuat (pronounced "kwatch") is a brand of guarana beverage sold by The Coca-Cola Company in Brazil. Kuat was introduced in Brazil in 1997 to compete with the leading guarana beverage, Guaraná Antarctica, which was stealing market share from Coca-Cola's cola products. In Brazil, Kuat is available in a diet version (Kuat Zero) and a green-tea infused version (Kuat Eko). Kuat was briefly sold in Norway starting in 2003 under the name SanSão. Guaraná Backus
Guaraná ( from the Portuguese ''guaraná'' ), ''Paullinia cupana'', syns. ''P. crysan, P. sorbilis'') is a climbing plant in the family Sapindaceae, native to the Amazon basin and especially common in Brazil. Guaraná has large leaves and clusters of flowers, and is best known for the seeds from its fruits, which are about the size of a coffee bean. As a dietary supplement or herb, guaraná seed is an effective stimulant: it contains about twice the concentration of caffeine found in coffee beans (about 2–8% caffeine in guarana seeds, compared to about 1–3% for coffee beans). The additive has gained notoriety for being used in energy drinks.
