Government Aizawl West College
Government Aizawl West College is an educational institution located in Dawrpui Vengthar, Aizawl, Mizoram. It is currently affiliated with Mizoram University. History Government Aizawl West College was founded on 2 May 1990 with 7 teachers and 150 students with the primary objective of imparting college education in the evening hours for deserving students especially to the students who could not afford education in day college. When the government upgraded Aizawl College to the status of government aided college in 1989, it became a day college and hence the need of another evening college. While there were colleges in the eastern, southern and northern part of Aizawl city, there was not a single college in the western part of Aizawl. Aizawl
Aizawl (; Mizo: ) is the capital of the state of Mizoram in India. Aizawl was officially established on 25 February 1890. With a population of 293,416, it is the largest city in the state. It is also the centre of administration containing all the important government offices, state assembly house and civil secretariat. The population of Aizawl strongly reflects the different communities of the ethnic Mizo people. Mizoram
Mizoram () is a state in Northeast India, with Aizawl as its seat of government and capital city. The name of the state is derived from "Mizo", the self-described name of the native inhabitants, and "Ram", which in the Mizo language means "land." Thus "Mizo-ram" means "land of the Mizos". Mizoram University is a central university under the University Grants Commission, Government of India, and was established on 2 July 2001, by the Mizoram University Act (2000) of the Parliament of India. The President of India is the official Visitor, and the Governor of Mizoram acts as the Chief Rector as per Mizoram University (Amendment) Bill, 2007. Aizawl College
Aizawl College is a college in Aizawl, Mizoram, India. It is accredited with B+ Grade by NAAC and has 445 students currently studying in the college. History Established as ‘Aizawl College’ in 1975 by a team of philanthropic citizens meeting at the Office chamber of the then Legislative Assembly Speaker, Dr. H.Thansanga, on the 13 January 1975, Aizawl College (later renamed Government Aizawl College following its take-over by the State Government) was formally inaugurated by Pu Ch. Chhunga, the first Chief Minister of Mizoram. Classes started on the evening of 25 August 1975 with 350 students of Pre University Class and six Lecturers. North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) is a Central University established on 19 July 1973 by an Act of the Indian Parliament. The university is in the suburb of Shillong, the state capital of Meghalaya, India. The university has two campuses: Shillong and Tura both are in Meghalaya. Education In Mizoram
Education in Mizoram consists of a diverse array of formal education systems ranging from elementary to university, from training institution to technical courses. The Government of India imposes mandatory education at least up to the basic level. For this public schools are made free of fees, and provided with free textbooks and school lunch. The first formal education was started in 1894 by two British Christian Missionaries at Aizawl.
