Gauhati High Court
The Gauhati High Court was promulgated by governor general of India on 1 March 1948 after the ''Government of India Act 1935'' was passed. Establishing the High Court of Assam with effect from 5 April 1948, for the then Province of Assam. It was originally known as the High Court of Assam and Nagaland, but renamed as Gauhati High Court in 1971 by the ''North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971''. It has largest jurisdiction in terms of states, with its area covering the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Mizoram. Justice Madan Bhimarao Lokur (born 31 December 1953) is an Indian jurist. He is a Judge of Supreme Court of Fiji. He is former Judge of Supreme Court of India. Jasti Chelameswar
Jasti Chelameswar (born 23 June 1953) is the former Judge of Supreme Court of India. He retired on 22 June 2018 as the second most senior Supreme court judge. Earlier, he was the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court and Gauhati High Court. He was also one of the 4 judges who held a controversial press conference against the Chief Justice of India Justice Dipak Misra. Binod Kumar Roy (26 December 1944 – 20 June 2019) was an Indian Judge and former Chief Justice of three High Courts of India. Career Roy was born in 1944. He studied in Patna College and passed LL.B from Magadh University. He started his career in the Patna High Court as an advocate. Leonard Stone (judge)
Sir John Leonard Stone, OBE, QC (6 November 1896 – 3 January 1978) was the last British chief justice of the High Court of Bombay, serving from 30 September 1943 until 1948. Educated at Malvern College, he served in the First World War and in the Greco-Turkish War of 1919–1922. Called to the bar at Gray's Inn in 1923, he joined the Lincoln's Inn Bar in 1931, becoming a Bencher of Gray's Inn in 1942 and its treasurer in 1956. He served in the British Home Guard during the Second World War, until 1943, when he was appointed Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court. He was appointed an OBE in the 1943 New Year Honours (citing his Home Guard service) and knighted in the 1943 Birthday Honours. He was appointed a King's Counsel in 1948.
