African networks and stations Despite being the most economically advanced country on the continent, South Africa did not introduce TV until 1976, owing to opposition from the apartheid regime. Free-to-air (FTA) services are television (TV) and radio services broadcast in unencrypted form, allowing any person with the appropriate receiving equipment to receive the signal and view or listen to the content without requiring a subscription, other ongoing cost, or one-off fee (e.g., pay-per-view). Awesome TV is a Malaysian Malay language free-to-air television channel owned by Awesome Broadcasting Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as Awesome Media Network). The channel features first-run local original production and foreign content. Awesome TV started its trial broadcast on 28 July 2020 and full operation started on 3 August 2020. Awesome TV can be viewed for free nationwide via MYTV platform on Channel 112.
