Free Catalan Territory
The Free Catalan Territory are those declared municipalities or regions of Catalonia that had approved a motion in a plenary session by the councillors of the town or the region council, as they represent the municipality's local authority. Such motions declare that Spanish laws and regulations are considered provisional, waiting for the Government and Parliament of Catalonia to enact new Catalan laws after having assumed national sovereignty, and therefore turning Catalonia into an independent state. ''Free Catalan Territory'' (in Catalan, ''Territori Català Lliure'') was the expression chosen by the councillors of Sant Pere de Torelló in order to define the ''status quo'' of the municipality on September 3, 2012, and was also the first town in Catalonia to give itself this name. Garrigues (comarca)
Garrigues () is a Comarques of Catalonia, comarca (county) in Ponent, Catalonia, Spain. Its capital is Les Borges Blanques. Its symbol (on the flag and shield in the right panel) is an olive branch, Garrigues being the center of olive cultivation (most of it without the necessity of irrigation) in all of Catalonia. History The cave paintings at Roca dels Moros, El Cogul, are the most important vestiges of prehistoric settlement in Garrigues. A Neolithic tomb has been found at Les Borges Blanques. During the Iberian era, the comarca was settled by the Ilergetians. There is documentation also for Roman summer residences and country villas, particularly in the north, but the Roman influence died out soon after. Tortosa
Tortosa (, ) is the capital of the '' comarca'' of Baix Ebre, in Catalonia, Spain. Tortosa is located at above sea level, by the Ebro river, protected on its northern side by the mountains of the Cardó Massif, of which Buinaca, one of the highest peaks, is located within Tortosa's municipal boundary. Vic (; ) is the capital of the ''comarca'' of Osona, in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Vic is from Barcelona and from Girona. Geography Vic lies in the middle of the Plain of Vic, equidistant from Barcelona and the Pyrenees. Cerdanya (; , ; , ) is a ''comarca'' in northern Catalonia, in the Pyrenees, on the border of Catalonia with France and Andorra. Arenys De Munt
Arenys de Munt (, , ''arenys'' being Catalan for "sands (of a seasonal creek)", and ''de munt'' for "up hill" as opposed to Arenys de Mar, "sands by the sea") is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Maresme in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated inland from the coast, in the range and including the peak of el Montalt (595 m). Maresme
Maresme () is a ''comarca'' (county) in the Barcelona region in Catalonia, located along the Mediterranean coast, between the ''comarques'' of Barcelonès (at the Southwest) and Selva (at the Northeast), and also bordering with Vallès Oriental (at the west). Its capital and largest city is Mataró (pop. 119,035 in 2007). Baix Penedès
Baix Penedès () is a comarca in the Penedès region, in Catalonia, Spain. The area has been settled since the times of the Iberians, with ancient ruins remaining in Banyeres at ''Can Canyís'', at the village of ''Guàrdies'' and in Calafell at the villages of ''Toixoneres'' and ''la Ciutadella'' ("The Citadel").
