Eugenio Corecco
Eugenio Corecco (3 October 1931 – 1 March 1995) was a Swiss bishop of the diocese of Lugano. He was a notable 20th century canonist who wrote about the theology of canon law. Biography Son of Peter, born in Bodio and Margaret Beffa of Airolo, he was ordained priest on October 2, 1955, studied in Rome, at the Pontifical Gregorian University to Munich, where he received his PhD in canon law and Fribourg, where in 1969 was appointed professor of canon law. In 1982, shortly before the publication of the new Code of Canon Law (CIC), exhibited his critical comments to John Paul II, the Pope called him to Rome to be part of a committee that assists him in the examination of the code, prior to its promulgation. Appointed consultant to the Committee on the interpretation of CIC, Eugenio Corecco holds conferences around the world. Ambrogio Marchioni
Ambrogio Marchioni (31 August 1911 – 2 May 1995) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He was made an archbishop in 1961 and served as Apostolic Nuncio to several countries from 1959 to 1984, including Switzerland for seventeen years. Biography Ambrogio Marchioni was born in Naples, Italy, on 31 August 1911. He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Naples on 26 May 1934. To prepare for a diplomatic career he entered the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1934. When he joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See, one of his early assignments was in the Nunciature to Italy at least as early as the end of 1940. He was secretary there on 15 October 1943 when Defence Minister Rodolfo Graziani asked him to support or express sympathy for the Italian Social Republic, the puppet state the Nazis had established. Brione (Verzasca) is former a municipality in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. On 17 October 2020 the former municipalities of Vogorno, Sonogno, Corippo, Brione (Verzasca) and Frasco merged to form the new municipality of Verzasca. History During the Middle Ages it was part of a ''squadra'' in the community of Verzasca. Later, it formed a '' Vicinanza'' together with Gerra. In 1852 they both became independent municipalities.
