Doğan Kuban
Doğan Kuban (10 April 1926 – 22 September 2021) was a Turkish architectural historian. Biography Kuban was born in Paris to a Kurdish family. He received his bachelor's degree in architecture from Istanbul Technical University (ITU). Shortly thereafter he started his academic career. In the 1960s and 1970s he spent time as a research fellow at the Dumbarton Oaks Research Library with a scholarship from Harvard University. He became a professor in 1965, and he retıred recently. Among his other work, he aided Professor Cecil L. Striker, of the University of Pennsylvania, in his scholarly restoration of the Kalenderhane Mosque in Istanbul. Kuban's urban history of Istanbul—one of the more complete diachronic histories of the city—is available in English as ''Istanbul: An Urban History. Architectural History
The history of architecture traces the changes in architecture through various traditions, regions, overarching stylistic trends, and dates. The beginnings of all these traditions is thought to be humans satisfying the very basic need of shelter and protection. The term "architecture" generally refers to buildings, but in its essence is much broader, including fields we now consider specialized forms of practice, such as urbanism, civil engineering, naval, military, and landscape architecture. Trends in architecture were influenced, among other factors, by technological innovations, particularly in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Ahmet Ertuğ
Ahmet Ertuğ (born 1949) is a fine art photographer and publisher based in Istanbul, Turkey. He was trained as an architect at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, from where he graduated in 1974. He specializes in large format photography of architectural and archaeological edifices of the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman periods in the history of Turkey. With Ahmet Kocabıyık he founded Ertuğ & Kocabıyık: Publishers of Fine Art Books. Ahmet Ertuğ's photographs were published in a series of 25 volumes. In 2009 Ahmet Ertuğ photographed 30 historical libraries in Europe. He developed the volume ''Temples of Knowledge: Libraries of the Western World'' from these photographs. His latest photographic project documenting the architecture of grand opera houses has been published under the title ''Palaces of Music: Opera Houses of Europe'' in December 2010, text written by Michael Forsyth. Ottoman Architecture
Ottoman architecture is the architectural style that developed under the Ottoman Empire. It first emerged in northwestern Anatolia in the late 13th century and developed from earlier Seljuk Turkish architecture, with influences from Byzantine and Iranian architecture along with other architectural traditions in the Middle East.: "The grand tradition of Ottoman architecture, established in the 16th century, differed markedly from that of the earlier Moors. Kurds

Kalenderhane Mosque
Kalenderhane Mosque ( tr, Kalenderhane Camii) is a former Eastern Orthodox church in Istanbul, converted into a mosque by the Ottomans. With high probability the church was originally dedicated to the Theotokos Kyriotissa. The building is sometimes referred to as Kalender Haneh Jamissi and St. Mary Diaconissa. This building represents one among the few extant examples of a Byzantine church with domed Greek cross plan.
