DWSS (1494 AM) is a radio station owned and operated by Supreme Broadcasting System, a subsidiary of FBS Radio Network in the Philippines. The station's studio is located at Paragon Plaza Condominium, EDSA corner Reliance St., Mandaluyong, while its transmitter is located along Coloong 1 Rd., Brgy. Back then, it was situated on 1380 kHz. On November 1978, it transferred to 1494 kHz due to the adoption of the 9-kHz spacing for medium wave stations per the Geneva Frequency Plan of 1975 (aka GE75), and changed its call letters to DWXY. Ultrasonic Broadcasting System, Inc. (UBSI) is a Philippine radio network owned by the SYSU Group of Companies, a conglomerate owned by the Sy family. UBSI owns a number of FM stations across the country under the Energy FM brand. History UBSI was founded by the Sy family in 1991 with the launch of K-LOVE 1494. In 1996, UBSI hired former station manager of DZMB and radio consultant Manuelito "Manny" F. Luzon as general manager. Under Luzon's management, he conceptualized a new FM network called Energy FM. It was launched first in Davao, followed by another station in Cebu (later transferred to 89.1 FM from 2003 to 2004) and in Naga. KZKZ (Philippines)
KZKZ (729 kHz AM) was the second radio station in the Philippines. It began broadcasting in 1922 and was founded by Henry Hermann, the owner of the Electrical Supply Company in Manila. The station was upgraded in 1924 to a 100-watt station and its call letters, KZKZ, were adopted; at the time, stations in the Philippines carried U.S. call signs, though the United States Department of Commerce did not regulate them. Later that year, the station was sold to the Radio Corporation of the Philippines. Power was upgraded to 500 watts. Radio Corporation of the Philippines merged with the Far Eastern Radio Corporation in September 1925. Far Eastern owned station KZRQ, which survived the merger while KZKZ was shuttered.
