Donovan Carrillo
Donovan Daniel Carrillo Suazo (born 17 November 1999) is a Mexican figure skater. He is the 2019 Philadelphia International silver medalist and a four-time Mexican national champion. He has competed in the final segment at six ISU Championships – two World Championships (2018, 2021), three Four Continents (2018–2020), and the 2018 World Junior Championships. He has earned the highest placement by any Mexican skater at a World Championships and qualified to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Personal life Carrillo was born on 17 November 1999 in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. Before taking up skating, he was enrolled in gymnastics and diving. His parents are physical education teachers. Zapopan
Zapopan () is a city and municipality located in the Mexican state of Jalisco. Part of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, the population of Zapopan city proper makes it the second largest city in the state, very close behind the population of Guadalajara proper. It is best known as being the home of the Virgin of Zapopan, an image of the Virgin Mary which was made in the 16th century. 2018 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
The 2018 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships were held in Taipei City, Taiwan on January 22–28, 2018. Medals were awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Qualification This competition is open to skaters from all non-European member nations of the International Skating Union. Skaters must have reached the age of 15 before July 1, 2017 to participate. The corresponding competition for European skaters is the 2018 European Figure Skating Championships. Each National Federation from the four represented regions are permitted to send up to three skaters/couples for each discipline. Figure Skating At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Qualification
The following is about the qualification rules and allocation of spots for the figure skating events at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Qualification system A total of 148 quota spots are available to athletes to compete at the games. A maximum of 18 athletes can be entered by a National Olympic Committee, with a maximum of 9 men or 9 women. A further ten team trophy quotas can be distributed to countries qualifying for the team event, but not the discipline itself. This means up to a maximum of 158 athletes can partake. If these additional ten quotas are not used, then the host (South Korea) may use them to qualify for each event, but may not qualify for the team event by use of these additional quotas. 2017 World Junior Figure Skating Championships
The 2017 World Junior Figure Skating Championships were held March 15–19, 2017 in Taipei City, Taiwan (Chinese Taipei). Commonly called "World Juniors" and "Junior Worlds", the event determined the World Junior champions in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Pair champions Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya / Harley Windsor became the first skaters representing Australia to win gold at an ISU Figure Skating Championships. Blue Swords (german: Pokal der Blauen Schwerter) is an international figure skating competition organized by the Deutsche Eislauf-Union. It is usually held in Chemnitz, Saxony, Germany. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Champions of the event win the "Blue Swords Trophy".
