Dawn Road
Dawn Road was a German hard rock band playing neoclassicism, formed in February 1972. All four members of Dawn Road ended up playing in Scorpions, with bassist Francis Buchholz staying for 12 albums throughout their most commercially successful era, leaving the band in 1992, later also playing with guitarist Uli Jon Roth who had a successful solo career after leaving Scorpions in 1978. The line-up of Dawn Road featured Uli Jon Roth (lead vocals, guitar), Jürgen Rosenthal (drums), Francis Buchholz (bass) and Achim Kirschning (keyboards, backing vocals). The band's repertoire consisted mainly of their own compositions, written by Roth and Kirschning, recorded in demos without releasing an album or single. Neoclassicism in music was a twentieth-century trend, particularly current in the interwar period, in which composers sought to return to aesthetic precepts associated with the broadly defined concept of "classicism", namely order, balance, clarity, economy, and emotional restraint. As such, neoclassicism was a reaction against the unrestrained emotionalism and perceived formlessness of late Romantic music, Romanticism, as well as a "call to order" after the experimental ferment of the first two decades of the twentieth century. Hard rock or heavy rock is a heavier subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and Distortion (music), distorted electric guitars. Scorpions (band)
Scorpions are a German hard rock band formed in Hanover in 1965 by guitarist Rudolf Schenker. The longest-running and most successful line-up of the band included Schenker, Klaus Meine (vocals), Matthias Jabs (lead guitar), Francis Buchholz (bass), and Herman Rarebell (drums), and lasted from 1978 to 1992. Electric Sun
Electric Sun was a rock band formed by German guitarist Uli Jon Roth after his departure, from the rock band Scorpions in 1978. They released three albums between 1978 and 1986. Their first album, ''Earthquake'', was released in 1979 and features guitarist/vocalist Roth, bassist Ule Ritgen and drummer Clive Edwards. Edwards departed, shortly after recording the first album. Uli Jon Roth
Uli Jon Roth (born Ulrich Roth; 18 December 1954) is a German guitarist who became famous for his work with the hard rock band Scorpions and is one of the earliest contributors to the neoclassical metal genre. He is also founder of the Sky Academy seminars and designer of the Sky Guitar. He is the older brother of fellow guitarist and artist Zeno Roth (1956–2018). Jürgen Rosenthal
Jürgen Rosenthal is a German rock drummer. Biography Rosenthal was a member of Uli Jon Roth's band Dawn Road and became a member of the Scorpions along with Roth and Francis Buchholz. He appeared on the album '' Fly to the Rainbow'' before leaving the band to do his compulsory service with the army. He later appeared in Eloy and wrote the lyrics for their 1977 album ''Ocean'' as well as for the album ''Dawn''. Francis Buchholz
Francis Buchholz (born 19 February 1954) is a German musician best known as the bass guitarist of German rock band Scorpions from 1973 until 1992. Since leaving Scorpions, he has been a member of Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock. Biography Born in Hanover, West Germany, Buchholz discovered rock music at the age of 11. His first public appearance as a bass player was at age 15 while in a high school. From then on he played in different rock, blues and jazz bands in his hometown of Hannover. Klaus Meine
Klaus Meine (; born 25 May 1948) is a German singer, best known as the longtime frontman and primary lyricist of the hard rock band Scorpions. Meine and guitarist Rudolf Schenker are the only two members of the group to appear on every Scorpions album, though he did not join the band until 1969. This was four years after its founding. Meine placed at number 22 on ''Hit Parader''s 'Top Heavy Metal Vocalists of All Time' list in 2006. Biography Meine wrote most of the lyrics to Scorpions' songs.
