Dakar Université Club Basketball, also known simply as DUC or DUC Dakar, is a Senegalese basketball club based in Dakar. It is the basketball team of the Cheikh Anta Diop University. The team plays in the Nationale 1 and has won the league five times, its last being in 2021. Established in 1956, the team was founded as a basketball club and later became a multisports club, including football, athletics and more. DUC plays in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in the 2022 season, having qualified as national champions. History The Dakar Université Club basketball team was founded in 1956. The team had its first major success in 2009, when the Students won the Nationale 1 for the first time. This title was followed by three more championships in the 2010s (including 2010, 2013 and 2015). They also won the Senegalese Cup in 2015. Nationale 1 (Senegal)
The Nationale 1 Masculin (abbreviated as NM1; in English: National 1 Men) is the highest professional basketball league in Senegal. Established in 1971, the league consists of 16 teams. Each season is finished with a final in a single-game elimination format, held at the Marius Ndiaye Stadium in Dakar. AS Douanes (basketball), AS Douanes is the most successful team in NM1 history with 11 won titles. The champions of the NM1 qualify directly for the regular season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), the premiere continental league. Adama Alex Diakhite (born 12 April 1997) is a Senegalese basketball player who plays for AS Douanes (basketball), AS Douanes of the Nationale 1 (Senegal), Nationale 1 and the Basketball Africa League (BAL). A center, he played college basketball in the Philippines before turning professional in 2022. College career In 2017, Diakhite started playing played collegiate basketball in the Philippines for Diliman College. ASC Ville de Dakar, commonly known as its abbreviation ASCVD, is a Senegalese basketball club based in Dakar. The team competes in the Nationale 1, the highest national level. The club was established in 1980, its men's team was founded in 2014. The men's team won its first championship in 2024, and will play in the 2025 BAL season. The women's team have won five national championships, between 2019 and 2024. Louga Basket Club, also known simply as Louga or LBC, is a Senegalese basketball club based in Louga. The team competes in the Nationale 1, the highest national level. History The club Louga BC was founded after the merger of Ndiambour Basket and Union Sportif de Louga (USL) in 2007. The two teams played in the lower levels of basketball before.
