2024 Nationale 1 Season
The 2024 Nationale 1 (N1) season was the 57th season of the Nationale 1 (NM1), the top-tier basketball league for men's teams in Senegal. AS Douanes were the defending champions, but were eliminated in the semi-finals. ASCVD won their first national championship, after defeating DUC in the final. As champions, they qualified directly for the 2025 BAL season. Teams Guédiawaye Academy and USPA were promoted. UCAD and ASFA were relegated to the Division 2 following their results in the 2022 season. In January, it was announced that UCAD and Larry Diouf had merged and would keep playing in the NM1 under the name Larry Diouf. The Nationale 1 Masculin (abbreviated as NM1; in English: National 1 Men) is the highest professional basketball league in Senegal. Established in 1971, the league consists of 16 teams. Each season is finished with a final in a single-game elimination format, held at the Marius Ndiaye Stadium in Dakar. AS Douanes and ASFA are the most successful team in NM1 history with 10 won titles each. The champions of the NM1 qualify directly for the regular season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), the premiere continental league. Ouakam
Ouakam is a commune d'arrondissement in the city of Dakar, Senegal. The commune is the birthplace of French politicians Ségolène Royal and Rama Yade and Senegalese writer and politician Birago Diop. Ouakam is one of the four original Lebou villages of the Cap-Vert Peninsula, along with Yoff, Ngor, and Hann. Louga
Louga ( ar, لوجا; Wolof: Luga) is a town in northwestern Senegal. Louga is a cattle market centre, and has road and rail links with the port city of Saint-Louis to the northwest and Dakar to the southwest. The area surrounding Louga is at the northern limits of Senegal's peanut- (groundnut-) growing area and is inhabited by the Fulani, who are generally pastoral nomads, and the Wolof, who are sedentary farmers.
