Colt 38 Special Squad
''Colt 38 Special Squad'' ( it, Quelli della Calibro 38) is a 1976 Italian ''poliziottesco'' film. This film, by Massimo Dallamano, stars Ivan Rassimov and Marcel Bozzuffi. Plot Turin, Italy mid-1970s. When his wife becomes the latest innocent victim of a merciless Marseilles crime lord (Ivan Rassimov), police captain Vanni (Marcel Bozzuffi) goes beyond the law to form a secret squad of rogue cops, each armed with an unlicensed .38 Colt Diamondback revolver. As Vanni and his vigilante crew take back the night bullet by bullet, the Marseillaise joins the game by instigating a wave of violent crime that turns the city into a war zone. Massimo Dallamano
Massimo Dallamano (17 April 1917 – 4 November 1976), sometimes credited as Max Dillman, Max Dillmann or Jack Dalmas, was an Italian director and director of photography. Life and career Born in Milan, Dallamano began in the 1940s as cameraman for documentaries and commercials, and after the war he became a cinematographer, specializing in adventure films. Credited as Jack Dalmas he was the cinematographer on Sergio Leone's ''A Fistful of Dollars'' (1964) and ''For a Few Dollars More'' (1965). In 1967 he made his directorial debut with another Spaghetti Western, '' Bandidos''. He went on to direct a dozen more films, including poliziotteschi, giallo films and erotic dramas. Fabrizio Capucci
Fabrizio Capucci (born 4 August 1939) is an Italian former actor and producer. Life and career Born in Rome, the brother of the fashion designer Roberto, Capucci studied acting at the drama school held by Pietro Sharoff in his hometown. After appearing in several supporting roles, he had his breakout with the role of Max in Florestano Vancini's '' The Warm Life''. He was also active in a number of television miniseries and recorded some singles. After retiring from acting, Capucci started a career as a producer of commercials. In 2004 he ran in the Lazio regional election for the Union of Democrats for Europe party, without being elected. He was also president of the football team Viterbese for two years. Poliziotteschi (; singular ''poliziottesco'') constitute a subgenre of crime and action films that emerged in Italy in the late 1960s and reached the height of their popularity in the 1970s. They are also known as ''polizieschi all'italiana'', ''Euro-crime'', ''Italo-crime'', ''spaghetti crime films'', or simply ''Italian crime films''. Influenced by both 1970s French crime films and gritty 1960s and 1970s American cop films and vigilante films, poliziotteschi films were made amidst an atmosphere of socio-political turmoil in Italy known as Years of Lead and increasing Italian crime rates. The films generally featured graphic and brutal violence, organized crime, car chases, vigilantism, heists, gunfights, and corruption up to the highest levels. Luciano Ercoli
Luciano Ercoli (October 19, 1929 – March 15, 2015) was an Italian film director, screenwriter, producer and unit production manager. Ercoli's career spanned approximately two decades before his retirement in the late 1970s, and saw him direct several films in the giallo genre, as well producing several Spaghetti Westerns. Ercoli was married to Spanish actress Nieves Navarro, who has appeared in several of the films he worked on. Life and career Ercoli was born in Rome, Italy, on October 19, 1929. His first film credit was as an assistant director for the 1955 film '' La risaia'', directed by Raffaello Matarazzo. Ercoli then acted as a film producer on several titles throughout the 1960s, before making his directorial début in 1970, helming the giallo film '' Le foto proibite di una signora per bene'', which he also produced and edited. NoShame
NoShame, or NoShame Films, was an Italian-American company specializing in releasing authoritative editions of cult Italian movies on DVD. History NoShame Films started its office in Italy and opened an office in Los Angeles, California the following year. Its specialty was remastering and releasing cult Italian films on DVD from such subgenres as giallo and poliziotteschi. The company was praised by DVD collectors for the amount of effort that went into its releases, which included thick booklets and plenty of special features. In 2006 the company quietly went out of business, amid rumors of content/privacy lawsuits initiated by a former Mayfair Model, with its website going offline and all future releases being canceled. Its previously released DVDs also started to go out of print. A new DVD company, MYA Communications, releases many films along the same lines as NoShame and has even slowly started to re-issue some of NoShame's out-of-print films.
