Caesar Andrade Faini
Caesar Andrade Faini (April 15, 1913 – 1995) was a master Ecuadorian painter and teacher who studied at the School of Fine Arts of Quito under the painter Victor Mideros. Early life Faini was born in Quito, Ecuador. His initial work focused on Social Realism like his contemporaries Eduardo Kingman. Faini is often considered the best interpreter of Ecuador's coastal landscape. Painting Faini's works bear the usual characteristics of the ideas of Social Realism, the prevalent theme of his generation. Other notable contemporaries included Eduardo Kingman, Bolívar Mena Franco, Oswaldo Guayasamín and Diogenes Paredes. Faini graduated in 1937, writing a thesis entitled 'Social Misery'. Oswaldo Guayasamín (July 6, 1919 – March 10, 1999) was an Ecuadorian painter and sculptor of Kichwa and Mestizo heritage. Biography Early life Guayasamín was born in Quito, Ecuador, to a native father and a Mestiza mother, both of Kichwa descent. His family was poor and his father worked as a carpenter for most of his life. Oswaldo Guayasamín later worked as a taxi and truck driver. He was the eldest of ten children in his family. When he was young, he enjoyed drawing caricatures of his teachers and the children that he played with. He showed an early love for art. He created a Pan-American art of human and social inequalities which achieved international recognition. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Quito as a painter and sculptor. Theo Constanté
Theo Constanté Parra (May 11, 1934 in Guayaquil, Ecuador – April 27, 2014) was a master Latin American painter part of the Abstract Informalist Movement in Ecuador. In 2005, Constanté won the country's most prestigious award for art, literature and culture, the Premio Eugenio Espejo National Award, presented by the President of Ecuador. Constanté's works are abstract in nature and consist of many colors which meld together amongst loosely drawn geometric lines. Constanté stated that his favorite colors were red, orange and blue and they are the colors that are typically more dominant in his work. Constanté studied and later taught at the School of Fine Arts in Guayaquil and in the Academy of San Fernando of Madrid. In 1963, Constanté's works were represented at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris for the Third Biennial of Paris together with fellow Ecuadorian painters Enrique Tábara and Humberto Moré. Luis Miranda (painter)
Luis Miranda (1932 in Guayaquil, Ecuador – 2016 in Guayaquil, Ecuador) was an Ecuadorian master painter. Miranda was born in 1932 to Pedro Miranda Martinez and Dolores Neira Peñafiel. Miranda's childhood memories were of harvesting honey from his family's many beehives, which they owned all along the route from Empalme to Guayaquil. Miranda was always drawing as a child, scribbling away on any paper that he could find and copying art from books that his mother had in the house. Miranda finished his primary studies in River Basin, where his parents had transferred for work related reasons. Miranda later returned to the port city to attend secondary school at the School Vicente Rocafuerte. In 1950, Miranda's passion for art led him to enroll in the School of Fine Arts in Guayaquil to be mentored by Hans Michaelson and Caesar Andrade Faini. José Carreño
José Carreño (born 1947 Guayaquil, Ecuador) is an Ecuadorian painter who studied in Paris. His first important group exhibition was held in 1965 when he attended the Latin American Painting Hall in Braniff, Texas, United States. During this time, his work revolved around the suburban based expressionism. Perhaps this exhibit paved the way for the international projection of Carreño's work. Shortly after the event his name became well known in many countries. In 1976, Carreño traveled to Paris, France, where he settled definitively by the City of Light and joined the National School of Fine Arts, whereupon completion of courses he obtained his Higher National Diploma in Fine Arts. Juan Villafuerte (July 19, 1945 – August 15, 1977) (Juan Antonio Villafuerte Estrada) was an artist known for his transmutated drawings and paintings. Villafuerte is among the ranks of other prominent Latin American painters such as Eduardo Kingman, Enrique Tábara, Aníbal Villacís, Félix Arauz, Oswaldo Guayasamín, Judith Gutiérrez, Judith Gutierrez, Hernan Zuniga and Jose Carreño. Villafuerte was born on July 19, 1945, in Guayaquil, Ecuador to Manuel Villafuerte and Rosa Estrada. Juan was the youngest of four brothers, Manuel, and two sisters, Nila and Vilma.
