Clay Eager
Clay Eager (August 8, 1925 – March 7, 1995) was the stage name of Wilbur Clay Eagy Jr., a rockabilly and country music singer of the 1950s. Biography Eager was born in Lima, Ohio. He owned his own record label, Karl Records, in which he released records by rockabilly recording artists such as Ray King, Bo Ratliff, Little Dickie Chaffin, Archie Poe, Von Stephens, Deacon Morris, and Larry Edwards. The label was based out of Springfield, Ohio. Eager appeared on radio stations WFTW out of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and WLOK out of Lima in 1950. In addition he also worked as a DJ and Program Director at WHOK in Lancaster, Ohio. Rockabilly
Rockabilly is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music. It dates back to the early 1950s in the United States, especially the Southern United States, South. As a genre, it blends the sound of Western music (North America), Western musical styles such as country music, country with that of rhythm and blues, leading to what is considered "classic" rock and roll. Some have also described it as a blend of bluegrass music, bluegrass with rock and roll. Midwestern Hayride
''Midwestern Hayride'', sometimes known as ''Midwest Hayride'' and later ''Hayride'', was an American country music show originating in the 1930s from radio station WLW and later from television station WLW-T in Cincinnati, Ohio. During the 1950s it was carried nationally by NBC and then ABC television. The program featured live country music (performed mainly by local musicians but on lesser occasions by national stars) and what was then called "hayseed" comedy, much of which was the inspiration for the later TV series '' Hee Haw''. Renfro Valley Barn Dance
''Renfro Valley Barn Dance'' was an American country music stage and radio show originally carried by WLW-AM in Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday nights. It debuted on October 9, 1937, from the Cincinnati Music Hall and moved to the Memorial Auditorium in Dayton, Ohio. It was hosted by John Lair, Red Foley, Cotton Foley, and Whitey Ford. The show later moved to larger quarters near Mt. Vernon, Kentucky in November 1939 and was carried by WHAS-AM in Louisville, the NBC Radio Network and WCKY-AM in Cincinnati. The program is no longer broadcast, but a live show bearing its name takes place on Saturday nights at the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center in Renfro Valley, Kentucky. A sister program, the ''Renfro Valley Gatherin''' (established in 1943), continues to air.
