Charlie Adams (drummer)
Charlie Adams is an American drummer, best known for playing in Yanni's touring band, after having played with Yanni in the early 1980s rock band Chameleon. Adams was born in Joliet, Illinois. Music career Chameleon Band members of regional rock band Chameleon included Adams on drums, vocals, and percussion; Yanni on keyboards and synthesizers; Dugan McNeill on lead vocals and bass guitars; Johnny Donaldson on all guitars; and Mark Anthony on lead vocals and keyboards. Their albums included ''Chameleon'', ''Techno-color'', ''Hologram Sky'', and ''Balance''. The group was noted for Adams' revolving gyroscope drum kit, who played his rapidly spinning drums before Mötley Crüe's Tommy Lee's similar arrangement. Giovanna Joyce Imbesi (died 2019), was an American pianist/keyboardist. She embarked on her first national tour with Yanni in 1987 to promote his album, '' Out of Silence'', and performed during the " Yanni 1988 Concert Series" and "Reflections of Passion" concert tours. During this time she played alongside such musicians as John Tesh and Charlie Adams, and with various symphony orchestras such as the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and the Minneapolis Symphony. During the following years, she worked with a number of performers including Patti LaBelle, Jeffrey Osborne, Sheila E., Toni Childs, Starship, Narada Michael Walden and Andy Summers with whom she toured internationally. ''Live at the Acropolis'' is the first live album and concert film by the Greek keyboardist, composer, and producer Yanni, released on March 1, 1994, on Private Music. It was recorded at the Herodes Atticus Theatre in Athens, Greece during his 1993 tour in support of his eighth studio album, ''In My Time'' (1993). The concert took a year and a half to organise and cost Yanni $2 million of his own money to fund. He performs with his six-piece band and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Shahrdad Rohani. ''Dare to Dream'' (stylised as ''DARE to dream'') is the eighth studio album by Greek keyboardist and composer Yanni, released in March 1992 on Private Music. The album peaked at No. 2 on '' Billboard's'' Top New Age Albums chart and at No. 32 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart in the same year. It went gold within two months of its release and was nominated for a Grammy. The album was followed by the sell-out, 65-city ''Dare to Dream'' concert tour which challenged audiences "not to be afraid to dream". ''Niki Nana'' is the fifth studio album by Greek keyboardist and composer Yanni, released in August 1989 by Private Music. Background By 1989, Yanni had released four studio albums, the most of recent of which was '' Chameleon Days'' (1988). When he started work on a follow-up record, he took a musical departure as he had explored music of an orchestral nature on his first three albums, in particular using synthesised strings. For ''Niki Nana'', Yanni incorporated more rock-oriented arrangements with rhythm dominating the music, for which he used his time playing in rock bands in his early career as inspiration. "Niki Nana (We're One)" started as an instrumental track and Yanni felt it had a celebratory feel, hearing "people singing and dancing" of a South American or African flavour. Background ''Ethnicity'' features greater use of vocals, percussion, and exotic rhythms, which were influenced by Yanni's period of travel during his hiatus between 1998 and 2000.
