Cala is a town in Sakhisizwe Local Municipality, part of the Chris Hani District Municipality in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. The town is located on the Tsomo River, 28 km southwest of Elliot. The name is Xhosa for ‘adjacent to’, referring to its situation west of the Drakensberg, which here extends north and south. Amamkele Lithemba Qamata born September 2, 1998) is known as a South African actress. She is best known for her roles as Buhle Ndaba in the Mzansi Magic series '' Gomora'' and Puleng Khumalo in the hit Netflix series '' Blood & Water''. Lungisile Ntsebeza
Lungisile Ntsebeza (born 1954) is a South African sociologist. He is professor emeritus of sociology and African studies at the University of Cape Town, where he has worked since 2004. He was the university's A. C. Jordan Professor of African Studies from 2012 until his retirement in 2022. He also held the South African Research Chair in Land Reform and Democracy in South Africa. Dumisa Ntsebeza
Dumisa Buhle Ntsebeza (born 31 October 1949) is a South African lawyer and political activist. He was a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Ntsebeza was born in Cala, Eastern Cape in the former Transkei. He is the chairman of the Desmond Tutu Peace Trust and a trustee of the Nelson Mandela Foundation. He was involved in the political struggle against apartheid in the mid-1970s, when he served time in prison during which he completed his law degree. Wiseman Lumkile Nkuhlu GCOB (born 5 February 1944 in Cala, Eastern Cape) is a South African chartered accountant, academic, and business leader. He became the first Black South African to qualify as a chartered accountant ( CA(SA)) in 1976. Nkuhlu served as Economic Advisor to President Thabo Mbeki from 2000 to 2004 and chaired the Development Bank of Southern Africa’s Transition Team in 1995. Samson Gwede Mantashe (born 21 June 1955) is a South African politician and former trade unionist who is currently serving as the Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources. Enoch Godongwana (born 9 June 1957) is a South African politician and former trade unionist who is currently serving as the Minister of Finance since August 2021. He is a member of the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress (ANC). Born in the Eastern Cape, Godongwana rose to political prominence as the general secretary of the National Union of Metalworkers between 1993 and 1997.
