CJMB-FM (90.5 FM, "Freq 90.5") is a radio station in Peterborough, Ontario. Owned by My Broadcasting Corporation, it broadcasts a classic alternative format. The studios and offices are on George Street in Peterborough. The transmitter is off Greencrest Drive. History The station received CRTC approval on June 9, 2004 and was launched on 99.5 FM on November 25, 2004, at 80 Hunter St. East by King's Kids Promotions Outreach Ministries with a christian format including talk and music. The studios later moved to the Kingswood Life Center at 993 Talwood Drive. Formerly known as "KAOS" radio, the station's first callsign was CKKK-FM. In March 2007, CKKK-FM applied to move to 90.5 FM. CKPT, then on 1420 AM, was approved in 2007 to move to 99.3 which is the adjacent frequency of 99.5. On July 9, 2007, CKKK received CRTC approval to move to 90.5 FM. My Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) is a Canadian broadcasting company founded in 2004 by Jon Pole and Andrew Dickson. Based in Renfrew, Ontario, the company operates a number of radio stations in small to medium-sized markets in Ontario. History The roots of My Broadcasting Corporation date back to Ottawa Valley Radio in the mid-1980s ( CKOA Arnprior and CKOB Renfrew). Those stations were owned by Jamie Pole, the father of current MBC co-owner and President Jon Pole. Jon's business partner and Executive VP of MBC, Andrew Dickson, was an announcer at CKOB in the late '70's and then filled in as morning announcer when Jamie Pole owned the station. CJWV-FM (96.7 Hertz, MHz) is a commercial radio, commercial radio station in Peterborough, Ontario, Peterborough, Ontario. The station broadcasts a classic hits radio format, format, switching to Christmas music for part of November and December. Toronto Blue Jays Radio Network
The Toronto Blue Jays Radio Network consists of 20 stations (16 AM, 4 FM) in 7 Canadian provinces broadcasting the team's games in English. At the start of the 2021 season, the radio broadcasts consisted of a simulcast of the audio from the Sportsnet television broadcasts of Blue Jays games, featuring play-by-play announcer Dan Shulman and colour analysts Buck Martinez and Pat Tabler, with Rob Wong and Shoaib Ali serve as on-air hosts. The simulcasts continued through the end of July, after which a dedicated radio broadcast was used with Ben Wagner calling play-by-play. From 2018 to 2020, the radio team consisted of play-by-play announcers Wagner and Mike Wilner. Wagner succeeded longtime radio announcer Jerry Howarth following the latter's retirement, while former radio analyst Joe Siddall moved to the television pregame show. John Badham (sportscaster)
John Badham (April 1, 1937December 8, 2016) was a Canadian sportscaster and radio announcer. He did play-by-play commentary for five Canadian Football League teams for 22 seasons and announced at 24 Grey Cups. He also covered the 1976 Summer Olympics and 1984 Winter Olympics for CBC Sports, and later worked for radio stations in Peterborough, Ontario from 1988 to 2016. He was inducted into the media section of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1995. Early career in Saskatchewan John Badham was born on April 1, 1937, in Brock, Saskatchewan, and was the son of an Anglican priest. His family moved around to several locations in Saskatchewan, then settled in Weyburn where he finished high school. He then worked at the Weyburn Mental Hospital and met his future wife, Dorothy Issac, who was a nurse. He and his wife had four children. CKPT-FM (99.7 FM broadcasting, FM, "Pete 99.7") is a radio station in Peterborough, Ontario. Owned by Durham Radio, it broadcasts an adult contemporary format. Its studios and offices are located on George Street North in Peterborough, while its transmitter is located on Greencrest Drive. History 1420 AM CKPT originally began broadcasting at 1420 AM broadcasting, AM on December 1, 1959. The station was powered at 1,000 watts by day and 500 watts at night. The paper started circulation in 1847, and is currently owned by Torstar and operated by its Metroland division. Between 1942 and 1955, it was edited by Canadian man of letters Robertson Davies, whose unique three-paragraph editorial style won several awards. Davies remained owner and publisher of the ''Examiner'' and Ralph Hancox the editor until 1967, when it was sold to the Thomson chain of newspapers. ''The Jim Rome Show'' is an American sports radio talk show hosted by Jim Rome. It airs live for three hours each weekday from 12pm to 3pm Pacific Time. The show is produced in Los Angeles, syndicated by Westwood One, and can be heard on affiliate radio stations in the U.S. and Canada. History ''The Jim Rome Show'' began on XTRA Sports 690 in San Diego. In 1996, Premiere Radio Networks picked up the program for national syndication. John Feinstein
John Feinstein ( ; July 28, 1955 – March 13, 2025) was an American sportswriter, author, and sports commentator. Background Feinstein was born to a Jewish family in New York City on July 28, 1955. His father was heavily involved in the arts, having been the General Manager of the Washington National Opera from 1980 to 1995 as well as the first executive director of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Feinstein attended Duke University and graduated in 1977. John attended The McBurney School thru 9th grade where he was a standout swimmer and basketball player. In 10th grade John transferred to Columbia Grammar where he was a standout swimmer. After a marriage to Mary Clare Gibbons ended in divorce, Feinstein married Christine Bauch in 2010. He had two children from his first marriage and one from his second. Feinstein died from an apparent heart attack at his brother’s home in McLean, Virginia, on March 13, 2025, at the age of 69.
