Blackwell Consolidated Independent School District
Blackwell Consolidated Independent School District is a public school district based in Blackwell, Texas, United States. The district serves southeastern Nolan County, southwestern Taylor County, and a small portion of northeastern Coke County. The district has one high school, Blackwell High School. History The district expanded in size on September 1, 1985 since the Divide Independent School District (not the same as the district in Kerr County, Texas) consolidated into it. The name changed from the Blackwell Independent School District to Blackwell CISD as a result of the consolidation. Finances As of the 2010–2011 school year, the appraised valuation of property in the district was $274,015,000. The maintenance tax rate was $0.104 and the bond tax rate was $0.007 per $100 of appraised valuation. Divide Independent School District
Divide Independent School District is a public school district based in the community of Mountain Home in western Kerr County, Texas, United States. In terms of students served, Divide ISD is the smallest district in Texas; the 2015 "graduation/promotion ceremony" featured a mere 11 students and the district had as few as eight students at the beginning of the 2014–2015 school year. Divide ISD serves much of western Kerr County. Divide ISD is one of the few remaining schools called " one room schoolhouses" in the United States. Technically it is not a one-room schoolhouse according to a ''Texas Monthly'' article by Katy Vine, as the original school building – still in use – does not hold the pre-Kindergarten classes. Six-man Football
Six-man football is a variant of gridiron football played with six players per team, instead of the standard 11 or 12. It is generally played by high schools in rural areas of the United States and Canada. History Six-man football was developed in 1934 by Stephen Epler in Chester, Nebraska, as an alternative means for small high schools to field a football team during the Great Depression. The first game was played on Thursday, September 27, 1934, at the Hebron, Nebraska Athletic Gridiron, under the lights, with a crowd of almost 1000 watching. This game was played so that coaches all over Kansas and Nebraska could see if they wanted to try this new game of six-man. Coke County is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 3,285. Its county seat is Robert Lee. Taylor County, Texas
Taylor County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 143,208. Its county seat is Abilene. The county was created in 1858 and later organized in 1878. It is named for Edward Taylor, George Taylor, and James Taylor, three brothers who died at the Battle of the Alamo. Nolan County is a county located in the west-central region of the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 14,738. Its county seat is Sweetwater. The county was created in 1876 and organized in 1881. It is named for Philip Nolan, one of the first American traders to visit Texas.
