Bat-El Gaterer
Bat-El Gatterer ( he, בת אל גטרר; born February 4, 1988) is an Israeli Olympic taekwondo athlete. She was the women's 2010 European featherweight champion. Biography Gatterer was born in and lived in the Israeli settlement of Kokhav Ya'akov, on a hilltop in the West Bank. In 1984, the family moved to Kokhav Ya'akov, a 20-minute drive from Jerusalem, where she trains. She is the eldest of six children, and served in the Israel Defense Forces for two years. She is a religiously observant Jew. Taekwondo career Gatterer enrolled in her first fighting class at 9 years of age, and at 12 years of age she began studying taekwondo. She trains with the club Ahi Yehuda in Jerusalem. She also trains at Wingate Institute, near Netanya, Israel. She is coached by Avi Kadouri and Noa Shmida. Kokhav Ya'akov ( he, כּוֹכַב יַעֲקֹב, lit. ''Star of Jacob'') is a religious Israeli settlement in the West Bank. European Taekwondo Union
The European Taekwondo Union (ETU) or World Taekwondo Europe (WTE) is the official governing body for all Taekwondo matters in Europe as a regional organisation of World Taekwondo. It comprises the National Taekwondo Federations of all the European member nations and regulates all Taekwondo matters on a continental basis. The first participating countries in the ETU were Spain, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Germany, Italy, France, Netherlands, Turkey, Greece, Denmark and the UK. The first president was Antonio Garcia de la Fuente. The First European Championships of the ETU were held in Barcelona on May 22–23, 1976. Ron Atias
Ron Atias (רון אטיאס; born 19 April 1995) is an Israeli Olympic taekwondo athlete who represented Israel at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Taekwondo career Atias, who started in the sport at the age of seven, trains in Ramla, Israel, which is his hometown. His club is Sharabi Martial Arts. In 2008, he won a gold medal in the Youth Croatia Taekwondo Open in Zagreb. In 2009, Atias won a gold medal at the Cadet European Taekwondo Championships, in 2010 a gold medal at the senior Austrian Open in Innsbruck, and in 2011 a silver medal at the Junior European Taekwondo Championships. He was picked by the Olympic Committee of Israel as the best 2011 Israeli Young Athlete. Atias then won gold medals at the youth 2012 Austrian Open and the 2013 senior Austrian Open. Maya Arusi
Maya Arusi ( he, מאיה ערוסי; born October 17, 1982, in Haifa) is an Israeli taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's flyweight category. She claimed two medals (a silver and a bronze) in the 51-kg division at the Trelleborg Open, and became the first Israeli athlete in history to compete in taekwondo in the Olympics at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Arusi trained throughout her career for Amos Lod Taekwondo Club, under head coach and master Alexei Orehov. Arusi qualified as a lone taekwondo fighter for the Israeli squad in the women's flyweight class (49 kg) at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by placing second behind Spain's Brigitte Yagüe and granting a berth from the European Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan. World Taekwondo, called the World Taekwondo Federation until June 2017, is an international federation governing the sport of taekwondo and is a member of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF).
