Buran, Ukraine
Buran () or Enhelsove (; ) is a rural settlement in Molodohvardiisk urban hromada, Luhansk Raion, Luhansk Oblast (region), Ukraine. Population: Geography The town is located from oblast center Luhansk, and from Krasnodon. History The settlement was founded in 1923, growing up around a mine named after Friedrich Engels. It received urban-type settlement status in 1938. During World War II, from July 1942 to February 14, 1943, it was occupied by Nazi Germany. There was partisan resistance during the occupation. Also, 110 residents died as soldiers on the frontline. It received the name ''Enhelsove'' in 1958. The ''Buran'' programme (, , "Snowstorm", "Blizzard"), also known as the "VKK Space Orbiter programme" (), was a Soviet and later Russian reusable spacecraft project that began in 1974 at the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute in Moscow and was formally suspended in 1993. In addition to being the designation for the whole Soviet/Russian reusable spacecraft project, ''Buran'' was also the name given to orbiter 1K, which completed one uncrewed spaceflight in 1988 and was the only Soviet reusable spacecraft to be launched into space. The Buran-class orbiters used the expendable Energia rocket as a launch vehicle. Buran (wind)
The buran (, ) is a wind which blows across Iran, eastern Asia, specifically Xinjiang, Siberia, and Kazakhstan. Over the tundra, it is also known as , purga. It is a wind of cold air, sometimes very strong, characteristic of the steppes of the Sarmatic Plain, to the west of the Urals. The buran takes two forms: in summer, it is a hot, dry wind, whipping up sandstorms; in winter, it is bitterly cold and often accompanied by blizzards. Winter buran winds are strong and full of ice and snow. The sky is often laden with snow, which swirls about and reduces the visibility to near zero at times. In Alaska this severe northeasterly wind is known as ''burga'' and brings snow and ice pellets. The Soviet space programme named a class of spacecraft after the buran (see Buran programme). Boran
Boran (also spelled Buran, Middle Persian: ) was Sasanian queen ('' banbishn'') of Iran from 630 to 632, with an interruption of some months. She was the daughter of king (or ''shah'') Khosrow II () and the Byzantine princess Maria. She is the second of only three women to rule in Iranian history, the others being Musa of Parthia, and Boran's sister Azarmidokht. In 628, her father was overthrown and executed by her brother-husband Kavad II, who also had all Boran's brothers and half-brothers executed, initiating a period of fractionalism within the empire. Kavad II died some months later, and was succeeded by his eight-year-old son Ardashir III, who after a rule of nigh two years, was killed and usurped by the Iranian military officer Shahrbaraz. Buran bint al-Hasan ibn Sahl (; 6 December 807 – 21 September 884) also known as Khadija bint al-Hasan ibn Sahl (), was one of the wives of the Abbasid caliph Al-Ma'mun. Buran was al-Ma'mun's second wife, She was the daughter of al-Ma'mun's officer, al-Hasan ibn Sahl. She was born as Khadija. She was born on 6 December 807. She was the daughter of al-Hasan ibn Sahl, a senior official of al-Ma'mun, and likely named after the Sasanian queen Boran (). She was betrothed to the Caliph at the age of ten. The wedding took place when she was seventeen, in December 825, at Wasit. The wedding was so pompously celebrated that it became proverbial and was called by the name of “The Invitation of Islam”, . RSS-40 Buran
The Buran (, named for the Buran wind) cruise missile, designation M-40 (М-40) sometimes referred to as ''RSS-40'', was a Soviet intercontinental cruise missile by Myasishchev capable of carrying a 3,500 kg hydrogen bomb payload. The project was canceled before flight tests began. It is unrelated to the later Buran reusable orbiter. Development The project was authorized on 20 May 1954, parallel to the development of the Burya missile. The development however, began in April 1953 as a rocket-aircraft system by Myasishchev OKB with internal designation M-40. The project was canceled in November 1957, when two prototypes were just ready for flight testing, in favor of the R-7 Semyorka, since ICBMs were considered unstoppable. A laser microphone is a surveillance device that uses a laser beam to detect sound vibrations in a distant object. It can be used to eavesdrop with minimal chance of exposure. The object is typically inside a room where a conversation is taking place and can be anything that can vibrate (for example, a picture on a wall) in response to the pressure waves created by noises present in the room.
