Black Box Distribution
Black Box Distribution was a skateboard distributor owned by professional skateboarder Jamie Thomas. Prior to October 2014, it served seven brands, three of which were owned by Thomas: Fallen Footwear, Mystery Skateboards, and Zero Skateboards. After the company was dissolved, Zero and Fallen moved to Dwindle Distribution. History The company was founded in 2000 as a way for Jamie Thomas to distribute his Zero Skateboards brand, which had been founded as the Zero Division apparel brand in 1996. The brand was initially supported by American distributor Tum Yeto (responsible for distributing Thomas' previous skateboard deck sponsor Toy Machine). The company's headquarters was in Carlsbad, California. Jamie Thomas
Jamie Thomas (born October 11, 1974) is an American professional skateboarder and entrepreneur. He is the owner and founder of Zero Skateboards. Thomas' nickname in the skateboard industry is "The Chief". Early life Thomas was born in Florida. He grew up in Dothan, Alabama, but also spent time as a child in Atlanta, Georgia, and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, for his father's work as a nuclear engineer. Thomas started skateboarding in Palm Beach Gardens at the age of eleven. Skateboarding career In 1991, Thomas won a skateboarding competition in Panama City, Florida. In 1992, Thomas left Alabama and relocated to San Francisco, California, in order to pursue a career in professional skateboarding. Fallen Footwear is an American skateboarding footwear and apparel brand founded by professional skateboarder Jamie Thomas in 2003, after leaving Circa. The company which was out of the market for almost two years (2016–2017) has now been acquired for a global re-launch by Town Connection, an investment group with its headquarters in Buenos Aires, Argentina. History In 2003, it was announced that Fallen Footwear would be manufactured and distributed by DC Shoes under licence from Thomas. The agreement was cancelled in 2005 after DC was acquired by Quiksilver. It was an amicable separation, and DC President Ken Block said that Fallen was "recognized as the top new emerging footwear brand in the skateboard industry." Zero Skateboards is a skateboard company located in Carlsbad, California, United States. The brand was founded by professional skateboarder and entrepreneur Jamie Thomas, and distributed by his Black Box Distribution company. Dwindle Distribution is an American skateboarding distributor based in El Segundo, California. It is a component of Transom Capital Group Limited. The company was founded by Steve Rocco and Rodney Mullen. Its formation is recognized as a key event in the creation of a skateboard company owned by people actively involved in the skateboarding lifestyle. History While professional skateboarder Rodney Mullen was still a sponsored rider for the Powell-Peralta "Bones Brigade" team, Steve Rocco convinced Mullen to join him in the further development of what would become the first skater-owned skateboard company, World Industries. Toy Machine
Toy Machine is a skateboarding company, housed under the Tum Yeto distribution company, started by Ed Templeton in 1993. History Prior to inception, Templeton was unable to decide on either "Toy Skateboards" or "Machine Skateboards" for a company name—friend and fellow professional skateboarder Ethan Fowler suggested a combination of the two propositions. Some of the skateboarders who joined the company during its early period were Brian Anderson, Elissa Steamer, and Brad Staba; however, all three quit the company at the same time. Austin Stephens then joined the team, followed by Caswell Berry, Diego Bucchieri, and Josh Harmony. Cliché Skateboards was a skateboard company based in Lyon, France, and distributed by the American company Dwindle Distribution.
