Bernard Joseph Wallace
Bernard Joseph Wallace (21 June 1919 − 8 November 1990) was an Australian Roman Catholic bishop. Banyo Seminary
Holy Spirit Seminary is a Catholic provincial seminary for Queensland located in Brisbane, Australia. Originally known as the Pius XII Provincial Seminary, it was founded in 1941 on top of Beehive Hill in the Brisbane suburb of Banyo, in a large Romanesque style building designed by Hennessy & Hennessy. The number of students peaked at 134 in 1967, but later gradually declined. In 2002, the seminary relocated to St Paschal's parish in Wavell Heights, and the building became the Brisbane campus of the Australian Catholic University. By 2007 vocations were increasing, and Holy Spirit Seminary was re-founded by the Queensland bishops. The Diocese of Rockhampton is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in Australia. It is a suffragan in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Brisbane. Erected in 1882, it covers Central Queensland. History The Diocese of Rockhampton was excised from the Archdiocese of Brisbane on 29 December 1882. Prior to this, the Brisbane archdiocese had responsibility for the entire state of Queensland, but the creation of the Rockhampton diocese split the state with responsibilities for the southern part of Queensland to remain with the Brisbane archdiocese while the northern part of Queensland became the responsibility of the new Rockhampton diocese. Francis Roberts Rush
Francis Roberts Rush (1916–2001) was a Roman Catholic priest in Queensland, Australia. He was Roman Catholic Archbishop of Brisbane. Early life Francis Roberts Rush was born in Townsville on 11 September 1916, the son of Thomas Rush and his wife Mary (née Roberts). Religious life Francis Rush was ordained a priest in Rome on 18 March 1939. From 1939 to 1945, he served as a priest at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Townsville. He was appointed Bishop of Rockhampton on 7 November 1960, where he implemented many of the reforms of the Second Vatican Council. He was appointed Roman Catholic Archbishop of Brisbane on 5 March 1973, replacing the retiring Patrick Mary O'Donnell. Later life Francis Rush retired on 3 December 1991 and lived in Brisbane in retirement. He died on 21 July 2001.
