FIA Formula 2 Championship
The FIA Formula 2 Championship (F2) is a second-tier single-seater championship organized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). Held on road racing, racing circuits, the championship was introduced in 2017, following the rebranding of the long-term Formula One feeder series GP2 Series, GP2. The series' original founders were Flavio Briatore and current managing director Bruno Michel. While it is not necessary to do so, most current F1 drivers have participated in Formula 2 or GP2 before graduating to Formula One. It is the last step on the FIA Global Pathway from Karting to Formula One. Formula 2 is designed to create an ideal training ground for life in Formula One and make racing relatively affordable for the teams. 2018 Barcelona Formula 2 Round
The 2018 Barcelona FIA Formula 2 round was a pair of motor races for Formula 2 cars that took place on 12 and 13 May 2018 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Catalonia, Spain as part of the FIA Formula 2 Championship. It was the third round of the 2018 FIA Formula 2 Championship and ran in support of the 2018 Spanish Grand Prix. The race weekend also saw history making from ART Grand Prix, as the French outfit managed to secure race victories in both races of the weekend to become the first team in modern Formula 2 to do so; with George Russell winning the Feature Race and Jack Aitken winning the Sprint Race respectively. The 2024 Barcelona Formula 2 round was a motor racing event held between 21 and 23 June 2024 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. It was the sixth round of the 2024 Formula 2 Championship and was held in support of the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix. Classification Qualifying Qualifying was held on 21 June 2024, at 15:55 local time (UTC+2). Notes: * – Joshua Dürksen received a ten-place grid penalty for causing a collision with Zane Maloney at the Feature Race in Monte Carlo. He will serve the penalty in the next race he competes. * – Taylor Barnard failed to set a time within the 107%-rule as he crashed out during qualifying, but was later given permission by the stewards to start both races from the back of the grid. Victor Martins
Victor Martins (; born 16 June 2001) is a French racing driver, who competes in the FIA Formula 2 Championship for ART Grand Prix as part of the Williams Driver Academy. A former member of the Alpine Academy and a member of the Williams Driver Academy since 2025, he won the 2020 Formula Renault Eurocup and the 2022 FIA Formula 3 Championship, and was the 2023 recipient of the Anthoine Hubert Award by virtue of finishing as top rookie in Formula 2. Career Karting Born in Quincy-sous-Sénart to a French mother and a Portuguese father, Martins began karting in 2013 after a spell in gymnastics in which he became French gymnastics champion at the age of 10. In 2016, he went on to win the Karting World Championship, CIK-FIA Junior World Karting Championship title in dominant fashion, leading pundits to liken Martins to Stoffel Vandoorne. Oliver James Bearman (; born 8 May 2005) is a British racing driver who competes in Formula One for Haas F1 Team, Haas. Born in London and raised in Chelmsford, Bearman began competitive kart racing aged seven, winning several national and continental titles. Graduating to junior formulae in 2020, Bearman won his first title at the 2021 Italian F4 Championship, also winning the 2021 ADAC Formula 4 Championship, ADAC F4 Championship that year, both with Van Amersfoort. Frederik Vesti Stamm (; born 13 January 2002) is a Danish racing driver, who competes in the IMSA SportsCar Championship for Action Express Racing, Cadillac Whelen and serves as a reserve driver in Formula One for Mercedes-Benz in Formula One, Mercedes. Vesti was the 2023 Formula 2 Championship, 2023 Formula 2 runner-up, driving for Prema Racing. The 2020 Barcelona FIA Formula 2 round was a pair of motor races for Formula 2 cars that took place on 15–16 August 2020 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Catalonia, Spain as part of the FIA Formula 2 Championship. It was the sixth round of the 2020 FIA Formula 2 Championship and ran in support of the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix. It was the first time since 2018 where one team secured a double lock-up in terms of wins in both races as Dutch outfit MP Motorsport won both the Feature Race and Sprint Race with Nobuharu Matsushita and Felipe Drugovich respectively.
