Arriva Trains Wales (ATW; cy, Trenau Arriva Cymru) was a British train operating company owned by Arriva UK Trains that operated the Wales & Borders franchise. It ran urban and inter-urban passenger services to all railway stations in Wales, including , , , , and , as well as to certain stations in England such as , , , Crewe, and . In August 2003, Arriva UK Trains was awarded the newly created Wales & Borders franchise by the Strategic Rail Authority, Arrival Trains Wales began operation during December 2003, taking over from Wales and Borders. British Rail Class 175
The British Rail Class 175 ''Coradia 1000'' is a type of diesel multiple-unit (DMU) passenger train operated by Transport for Wales Rail in the United Kingdom. The fleet of 27 sets was ordered from the French train manufacturer Alstom during July 1997 and were constructed between 1999 and 2001 at Washwood Heath, Birmingham. Based on the design of the Alstom Coradia Juniper family, early plans for some of the fleet to be ran at were in place but subsequently abandoned. Driver training and extensive testing of the new fleet was performed at the Old Dalby Test Track from November 1999. The first Class 175 entered revenue service with the train operating company North Western Trains on 20 June 2000. Premier Service
The ''Premier Service'' is a passenger train service operated by Transport for Wales Rail between Holyhead and Cardiff in Wales. History On 15 December 2008, the ''Premier Service'' commenced operating between Holyhead and Cardiff Central. Originally named ''Y Gerallt Gymro'' (Gerald of Wales), it was funded by the Welsh Government as a premium service to connect North and South Wales. Grand Central and Wrexham & Shropshire expressed an interest in operating the service; however, the contract was awarded to Wales & Borders franchise holder Arriva Trains Wales. Four Class 57s (57313-57316) were sublet from Virgin Trains West Coast to operate in top and tail formation, with one Mark 3 and three Mark 2 carriages. Central Trains was a train operating company in the United Kingdom owned by National Express that operated a variety of local and inter-regional trains from 2 March 1997 until 11 November 2007. The Cambrian Line ( cy, Llinell y Cambrian), also known as the Cambrian Main Line ( cy, Prif Linell y Cambrian) and Cambrian Coast Line ( cy, Llinell Arfordir y Cambrian), is a railway line that runs from Shrewsbury, England, westwards to Aberystwyth and Pwllheli in Wales. Wales & West was a train operating company in the United Kingdom that operated the South Wales & West franchise from 1996 until 2001. Valleys & Cardiff Local Routes ( cy, Llwybrau Lleol y Cymoedd a Chaerdydd) (formerly Valley Lines) is the network of passenger suburban railway services radiating from Cardiff, Wales. It includes lines within the city itself, the Vale of Glamorgan and the South Wales Valleys. The services are currently operated by Transport for Wales Rail.
