Arnout Hoekstra
Arnout Hoekstra (born 2 December 1984) is a Dutch politician. He was ''Lead Candidate, Lijsttrekker'' of the Socialist Party (Netherlands), Socialist Party (SP) in the 2019 European Parliament election in the Netherlands, 2019 European Parliament election but was not elected as European Parliament, European parliamentarian. Biography Hoekstra became a member of the SP when he was 16 years old. After a period on the Municipal council (Netherlands), municipal council of his hometown of Vlaardingen, he became alderman in that municipality in 2011. At the end of 2018, he resigned in his second term as alderman when the other parties on the council (''ONS.Vlaardingen'', People's Party for Freedom and Democracy, VVD, ''GroenLinks'' and Christian Democratic Appeal, CDA) wanted to stick to a council-wide program instead of a traditional, more limited program. Socialist Party (Netherlands)
The Socialist Party ( nl, Socialistische Partij, ; abbreviated as SP, ) is a democratic socialist political party in the Netherlands. Founded in 1971 as the Communist Party of the Netherlands/Marxist–Leninist (KPN/ML, nl, link=no, Communistische Partij van Nederland/Marxistisch–Leninistisch), the party has since moderated itself from Marxism–Leninism and Maoism towards democratic socialism and social democracy. The SP has also been described as left-wing populist and soft Eurosceptic, and is an advocate of Dutch republicanism. Positioned to the political left of the Labour Party, the party has been part of the parliamentary opposition since it was formed. Red Youth (Netherlands)
Red Youth ( nl, Rode Jeugd) was a communist organization in the Netherlands. It originated in the group around the periodical ''Rode Jeugd'', which had been started by the pro- China '' Rode Vlag''-grouping in 1966. In October 1967 the group around ''Rode Jeugd'' broke away, and formed their own organisation, Red Youth. The group was most active in the city of Eindhoven. Witch-hunt
A witch-hunt, or a witch purge, is a search for people who have been labeled witches or a search for evidence of witchcraft. The classical period of witch-hunts in Early Modern Europe and Colonial America took place in the Early Modern period or about 1450 to 1750, spanning the upheavals of the Reformation and the Thirty Years' War, resulting in an estimated 35,000 to 50,000 executions. The last executions of people convicted as witches in Europe took place in the 18th century. In other regions, like Africa and Asia, contemporary witch-hunts have been reported from sub-Saharan Africa and Papua New Guinea, and official legislation against witchcraft is still found in Saudi Arabia and Cameroon today. Communist Platform (Netherlands)
The Communist Platform is a Dutch orthodox Marxist political organisation, founded in 2014. The Platform publishes articles about topical and historical political events and developments from a Marxist point of view. The Platform also organises reading groups and seminars on various subjects and translates Marxist works into Dutch. Finally, the Platform participates in the Dutch labour movement, for example by publishing voting recommendations for congresses and leadership elections within the Dutch Socialist Party. Nieuwsuur (''News Hour'') is a Dutch current affairs television program produced for the NPO by the government broadcasters NOS and NTR. It is broadcast daily between 9.30 pm and 10 pm (9.30-10 pm at weekends) on NPO 2. The programme pays particular attention to Dutch and European politics, as well as other international events; in addition, there is a sports news bulletin in each broadcast.
