South East Queensland

Matthew Hale (bishop)
Mathew Blagden Hale (18 June 1811 – 3 April 1895), very frequently spelled "Matthew", was the first Anglican Bishop of Perth and then the Anglican Bishop of Brisbane. Hale is recognised for seeking to empower the South Australian Aboriginals through his work in the Poonindie mission, establishing the Anglican Diocese of Perth and Hale School. Early life Mathew Blagden Hale was born on 18 June 1811 at Alderley, Gloucestershire, the third son of Robert H. Blagden Hale (5 May 1780 – 20 December 1855) and Lady Theodosia Hale (née Bourke). His maternal grandfather was The Earl of Mayo, Lord Archbishop of Tuam. Benjamin Glennie
The Reverend Benjamin Glennie (29 January 1812 – 30 April 1900) was a pioneer Anglican clergyman in the Darling Downs, Queensland, Australia. Early life Benjamin Glennie was born on 29 January 1812 in Dulwich, Surrey, England; his parents were William Glennie, the principal of a private school in Dulwich, and his wife Mary (née Gardiner). He was educated at King's College School, London and then Christ's College where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1847. Edward Tufnell (bishop)
Edward Wyndham Tufnell (3 October 1814 – 3 December 1896) was an Anglican priest. He was the first Anglican Bishop of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. Early life Tufnell was born on 3 October 1814 in Bath, Somerset and educated at Eton and Wadham College, Oxford. He was the son of a banker, John Charles Tufnell, and Uliana Ivanova Margaret Fowell, who had a total of eighteen children. Ecclesiastical career Ordained a priest in 1839, his first posts were curacies at Broadwindsor and Broad Hinton. After this he held incumbencies at Beechingstoke and Marlborough. He served as Anglican Bishop of Brisbane from 1859 to 1874. William Tyrrell (bishop)
William Tyrrell (31 January 1807 – 24 March 1879) was the first Anglican Bishop of Newcastle, New South Wales. Early life Tyrrell was the youngest of 10 children of Timothy Tyrrell, Remembrancer of the City of London. He was educated at the Charterhouse as a day boy, and St John's College, Cambridge, where he graduated in 1831 as fourth senior optime. He had intended studying law, but about the time of his father's death in 1832 he decided to enter the Church, and was ordained deacon in September 1832 and priest a year later. He was curate at Aylestone, near Leicester for about six years, was for a few months at Burnham, near Maidenhead, and in 1839 became rector of Beaulieu in Hampshire.
