Adolf Rambold
Adolf Rambold (5 October 1900 – 14 May 1996) was a German inventor and engineer. Life Rambold worked for the German company Teekanne since 1924. In 1929, he invented the tea bag packing machine called Pompadour. In 1949, being a co-owner of Teepack he invented a modern form of tea bag - bag with 2 chambers which remains the most popular type of the tea bag till now. In the same year he proposed a new tea bag packing machine Constanta which produced 160 bags per minute. Meerbusch () is a town in Rhein-Kreis Neuss, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It has been an incorporated town since 1970. Neuss is a Kreis (district) in the west of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Nearby are the urban districts Mönchengladbach, Krefeld, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne, the districts Rhein-Erft-Kreis, Düren, Heinsberg and the district Viersen. A tea bag, or the compound teabag, is a small, porous, sealed bag or packet, typically containing tea leaves or the leaves of other herbs, which is immersed in water to steep and make an infusion. Originally used only for tea (''Camellia sinensis''), they are now made with other tisanes ("herbal teas") as well. Tea bags are commonly made of filter paper or food-grade plastic, or occasionally of silk cotton or silk. The tea bag performs the same function as a tea infuser. Teekanne GmbH & CO. kg is a German tea trading company, based in Düsseldorf. The founders Rudolf Anders and Eugen Nissle were the first to sell tea in tins and already mixed teas on a high quality level. Furthermore, they went on to invent the machine-made tea bag. Today the family-run company produces 7.5 billion tea bags per year. History Teekanne, then known under the name “R.Seelig & Hille”, was founded on 16 July 1882 in Dresden. In 1888 the company was renamed “Theekanne”, old German spelling for "Teekanne", meaning " teapot", and registered as a trademark.
