Adam Ant
Stuart Leslie Goddard (born 3 November 1954), known professionally as Adam Ant, is an English singer, musician, and actor. He gained popularity as the lead singer of new wave group Adam and the Ants and later as a solo artist, scoring 10 UK top ten hits from 1980 to 1983, including three UK No. 1 singles. He has also worked as an actor, appearing in many films and television episodes. Ant began his musical career playing bass in the band Bazooka Joe. From 1977 to 1982 he performed with Adam and the Ants. Their debut album '' Dirk Wears White Sox'' (1979) reached number one on the UK Independent Albums Chart. Before recording his debut album as Adam and the Ants, he asked producer Malcolm McLaren to manage his band; McLaren instead took his backing band to form Bow Wow Wow. Stand And Deliver (Adam And The Ants Song)
"Stand and Deliver" is a song by British new wave band Adam and the Ants, released as the lead single from their third studio album, '' Prince Charming'' (1981). It was the band's first No. 1 hit in the UK. The phrase "stand and deliver — your money or your life", used in the lyrics, is commonly associated with highwaymen in 18th century England. Release Adam and the Ants' previous single, "Antmusic", debuted on the UK Singles Chart on 6 December 1980. It spent nine weeks in the top 10, peaking at No. 2, but was denied the No. 1 position by the re-release of John Lennon's " Imagine" after his murder in New York City on 8 December 1980. Strip (Adam Ant Album)
''Strip'' is the second solo studio album by Adam Ant, and counting his work with Adam and the Ants, his fifth studio album. It was released in 1983 and a stylistic departure from Ant's previous musical efforts. This record is much less rock-oriented and more grounded in pop and dance. Ant continued his songwriting collaboration with Marco Pirroni for the album. Along with Richard James Burgess and Ant, Pirroni was one of the album’s main producers. The album did not perform as well in Ant's home country as his previous albums and performed modestly in the US. Critics generally reviewed it unfavorably. Production Phil Collins plays drums on "Puss 'n Boots" and "Strip", Collins also aided in production duties for the two tracks he played on, and enlisted Hugh Padgham to assist with the production and engineering of those sessions. Marylebone (usually , also ) is an area in London, England, and is located in the City of Westminster. It is in Central London and part of the West End. Oxford Street forms its southern boundary. Marco Pirroni
Marco Francesco Andrea Pirroni (born 27 April 1959) frequently credited simply as Marco, is a British guitarist, songwriter and record producer. He has worked with Adam Ant, Sinéad O'Connor, Siouxsie and the Banshees and many others from the late 1970s to the present day. Early years Born to Italian parents in Camden Town, London, Pirroni made his first appearance on stage with Siouxsie and the Banshees in their début gig, at 100 Club Punk Festival in 1976. Sid Vicious, future bassist for the Sex Pistols, was on drums. Pirroni also formed a short-lived punk rock band called the Models with future fellow Ants member Terry Lee Miall and future Wolfgang Press member Mick Allen, plus singer Cliff Fox. ''Vive Le Rock'' is the third solo album by Adam Ant, released in September 1985, which contained two versions of Ant's 1984 song "Apollo 9". Production Producer Tony Visconti, famous for his 1970s work with Ant's heroes Marc Bolan and David Bowie, commented on his work with Ant on ''Vive Le Rock'': "What a creative ball of energy! He was great to work with. He's very opinionated and knows what he wants. We didn't quite agree during the mixes, he kind of wanted everything very trebly and I'm a bassey kind of producer." "Goody Two Shoes" is the debut solo single by Adam Ant, released on 7 May 1982. It became Ant's third overall number one in the UK (the other two being from his band Adam and the Ants) and his highest-charting song in the US, where it peaked at number 12. The song's lyrics are satirical, mocking the UK tabloid press and their obsession with Ant's clean lifestyle ("Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?"). "Prince Charming" was a number-one single in the UK Singles Chart for four weeks in September 1981 for Adam and the Ants. Written by Adam Ant and Marco Pirroni, and featuring on the Prince Charming (album), album of the same name, it was Adam and the Ants' second number-one single in a row and was the fifth biggest hit of 1981. Music video Band member and producer Merrick (Chris Hughes (record producer), Chris Hughes), normally on drums, played a stirring riff on an open-tuned acoustic guitar throughout the song. This album features bass player Gary Tibbs in place of Kevin Mooney, the bassist on ''Kings of the Wild Frontier''. The album included the band's two number one UK hit singles " Stand and Deliver" and "Prince Charming" as well as "Ant Rap". The album peaked at number 2 in the UK charts and received mixed reviews from critics. Release ''Prince Charming'' was released in November 1981 by CBS Records.
