40th Quebec Legislature
The 40th National Assembly of Quebec consisted of those elected in the 2012 general election and two by-elections in December 2013. Pauline Marois ( PQ) was the premier. The leader of the opposition changed twice. Pauline Marois
Pauline Marois (; born March 29, 1949) is a retired Canadian politician, who served as the 30th premier of Quebec from 2012 to 2014. Marois had been a Member of the National Assembly (Quebec), member of the National Assembly in various ridings since 1981 as a member of the Parti Québécois (PQ), serving as party leader from 2007 to 2014. She is the first female premier of Quebec. Born in a working-class family, Marois studied social work at Université Laval, married businessman Claude Blanchet and became an activist in Grassroots, grassroots organizations and in the Parti Québécois (a social democracy, social democratic party advocating Quebec sovereignty movement, Quebec's independence). An independent politician or non-affiliated politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association. Bertrand is a provincial electoral district in the Lanaudière and Laurentides regions of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It is not to be confused with the former, entirely different Bertrand electoral district located in the Montérégie region, which existed from 1981 to 1994; they used the same name but otherwise have nothing in common.
