2012 Arab Cup
The 2012 Arab Cup ( ar, كأس العرب 2012) was the ninth edition of the Arab Cup for national football teams affiliated with the Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA). The tournament was hosted by Saudi Arabia between 22 June and 6 July 2012. It is the second time that the nation has hosted the tournament, the first being in 1985. This edition witnessed the return of Iraq – the most successful team and record holder of the Arab Cup with four titles – after a 25-year absence due to the Gulf War. Prize money The tournament's lead sponsor was Singaporean company World Sport Group who describe themselves as "Asia's leading sports marketing, media and event management company." The winner received USD$1million, the runner-up received $600,000, the third-placed team received $300,000, while the other participating football associations received $200,000 each. The 1992 Arab Cup is the sixth edition of the Arab Cup and also counted as the seventh edition of the 1992 Pan Arab Games football tournament, hosted by Syria, in 2 Provinces Aleppo and Damascus. Nawaf Abdullah Ghayyath Shukrallah ( ar, نواف شكر الله) (born 13 October 1976) is a Bahraini football referee who has been a full international referee for FIFA. In 2011, FIFA called him on duty at the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup. He has also officiated at other tournaments, including the AFC Champions League, the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup, and 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Djamel Haimoudi ( ar, جمال حيمودي; born December 10, 1970) is an Algerian football referee. He has been a FIFA listed international referee since 2004. Career Haimoudi was born in Relizane. He was a referee at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. He has also refereed a number of CAF Champions League matches, as well as FIFA World Cup qualifiers. In December 2012, he was selected by the Confederation of African Football as the African Referee of the Year at the 2012 CAF Awards in Accra, Ghana. Prince Abdullah al-Faisal Stadium ( ar, استاد الأمير عبدالله الفيصل) is a stadium in the port city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The stadium is located in the south east of Jeddah, between King Abdulaziz University and the industrial city (Al Waziriah District). It is bound in the east by the Jeddah-Makkah expressway and in the south, Stadium street. The stadium was constructed in 1970, and has a capacity of around 27,000 spectators, and is part of a municipal sports complex that includes an indoor arena and an aquatics center. The stadium consists of two main stands. The covered west stand, is fully seated and has an enclosed VIP box and media suites in a central tribune. The arch shaped east stand is terraced, and curves along the running track. A single large scoreboard is located on the northern edge of the east stand. Taif ( ar, , translit=aṭ-Ṭāʾif, lit=The circulated or encircled, ) is a city and governorate in the Makkan Region of Saudi Arabia. Located at an elevation of in the slopes of the Hijaz Mountains, which themselves are part of the Sarat Mountains, the city has a 2020 estimated population of 688,693 people, making it the 6th most populous city in the kingdom.
