The 2011 FINA Men's Water Polo World League was the tenth edition of the annual event, organised by the world's governing body in aquatics, the FINA. FINA Water Polo World League
The FINA Water Polo World League was an international water polo league organized by FINA, which plays annually, typically from winter through to June. League play featured continental tournaments for men and women, from which the top teams emerged to play in the championship tournament (the "Super Final") where the league champion team is crowned. Men's league play began in 2002, to capitalize on increased worldwide popularity of water polo created by the 2000 Olympic Games, especially in Europe, North America and Australia. The women’s league was added in 2004, based on growing interest in women's play. In October 2022, FINA announced that the tournament would be replaced with the FINA Water Polo World Cup and FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup from 2023 on. Sandro Sukno
Sandro Sukno (born 30 June 1990) is a Croatian former professional water polo player. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed for the Croatia men's national water polo team, Croatia national team in the Water polo at the 2012 Summer Olympics, men's event winning the gold medal. He also won a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He last played for VK Jug. He currently works as an assistant coach of the senior men's Croatia national team. Sandro's father is Goran Sukno, water polo gold medalist for Yugoslavia at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Sandro was named Croatian water polo player of the year in 2014 and 2015, and best player in the 2014–15 Prva Liga. Filip Filipović ( sr-Cyrl, Филип Филиповић; born 2 May 1987) is a Serbian water polo player widely considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. He was a member of the Serbia men's national water polo teams that won bronze medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics and gold medals in 2016 and 2020. He also held the world title in 2009 and 2015 and the European title in 2003, 2006, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018. He was named ''Most Valuable Player'' at the 2011 World Championships.
