2017–18 Swiss Challenge League
The 2017–18 Swiss Challenge League (referred to as the Brack.ch Challenge League for sponsoring reasons) is the 15th season of the Swiss Challenge League, the second tier of competitive football in Switzerland, under its current name. The season started on 21 July 2017 and is scheduled to end on 21 May 2018. The winter break began on 11 December 2017 and the league resumed on 2 February 2018. Participating teams A total of 10 teams participate in the league. 2016–17 Swiss Challenge League champions Zürich were promoted to the 2017–18 Swiss Super League. They were replaced by FC Vaduz, who got relegated after finishing last-placed in the 2016–17 Swiss Super League. Le Mont was relegated after failing to renew their licence. They were replaced by Rapperswil-Jona, who won promotion from the 2016–17 Swiss Promotion League. Swiss Challenge League
The Challenge League (known as the Dieci Challenge League for sponsorship reasons) is the second-highest tier of the Swiss football league system and lower of two professional leagues in the country. Ten teams play in the Challenge League; the winners of the league are promoted to the Swiss Super League, Super League, while the bottom-placed team is relegated to the Promotion League. Overview The Challenge League is played over 36 rounds from the end of July to May, with a winter break from mid-December to the first week of February. Each team plays each other four times, twice at home and twice away, in a Round-robin tournament, round-robin. The bottom team will be relegated to the Promotion League and replaced by the respective champion for the next season. FC Chiasso
FC Chiasso is a Swiss football club based in Chiasso. It was founded in 1905. Chiasso also played in the Italian first league between 1914 and 1923. The team currently play in 3. Liga, the seventh tier of Swiss football. History Between 1927 and 1993, the club played a total of 28 seasons in the Swiss top flight. Stade de la Maladière is a multi-purpose stadium in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and is the home ground of Neuchâtel Xamax. Stadion Brügglifeld is a multi-purpose stadium in Aarau, Switzerland. It is primarily used for football matches and is the home stadium of FC Aarau. The current capacity is 9,249 seats, which include 1499 covered seats. 1,187 covered seats are in the main stand and 312 additional seats are located in the smaller grandstand. FC Winterthur is a Swiss football club based in Winterthur, Canton of Zürich.
