2014–15 Azerbaijan Premier League
The 2014–15 Azerbaijan Premier League was the 23rd season of Azerbaijan Premier League, the Azerbaijani professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. Qarabağ were the defending champions, having won the previous season. The season started on 9 August 2014 and ended on 28 May 2015. Teams Ravan Baku were relegated to Azerbaijan First Division. The format of the league did not change as a total of 10 teams contested the league, with the last club relegated and Araz-Naxçıvan promoted from the First Division. The competition format follows the usual double round-robin format. During the course of a season, which lasts from August to May, each club plays every other club four times, twice at home and twice away, for a total of 36 games. On 3 November 2014, Araz-Naxçıvan announced their withdrawal from the league due to alleged constant biased referee decisions, which meant that all of their results were annulled. Azerbaijan Premier League
The Azerbaijan Premier League (), also known as Misli Premyer Liqası for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Azerbaijan and the highest level of the Azerbaijani football league system. It is contested by twelve clubs. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 33 matches each (playing each team in the league three times, twice at home and once away). The Premier League champion secures the right to play in UEFA Champions League first qualifying round. The runner up and the 3rd-place winner secure the right to play in UEFA Europa Conference League starting in second qualifying round. Since 1992, a total of eight clubs have been crowned champions of the Azerbaijani football system. Sumgayit FK
Sumqayıt FK (, ) is an Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani professional Association football, football club based in Sumgayit, Sumgait, that plays in the Azerbaijan Premier League, the top tier of Football in Azerbaijan, football in the country. History The club was founded in 2010 as Sumqayıt FK. In May 2011, the team secured their promotion to Azerbaijan Premier League after getting wildcard place instead of defunct FC Absheron, Absheron. Lankaran
Lankaran (, ) or Lánkon () is a city in Azerbaijan, on the coast of the Caspian Sea, near the southern border with Iran. As of 2021, the city had a population of 89,300. It is next to, but independent of, Lankaran District. The city forms a distinct first-order division of Azerbaijan. Etymology The origin of the name "Lankaran" is uncertain. Khazar Lankaran FK
Khazar Lankaran FK () was an Azerbaijani football club based in Lankaran that last played in the Azerbaijan Premier League during the 2015–16 season. Since the summer of 2016 the club has concentrated on youth football. It played in the Azerbaijan Premier League for twelve-seasons, winning the title once, and the Azerbaijan Cup three times. Khazar were also a member of the European Club Association, an organization that replaced the previous G-14 which consists of major football clubs in Europe. Inter Arena
ASK Arena (), formerly Inter Arena and Shafa Stadium is an all-seater football stadium located in Baku . The stadium was built on the site of Termist stadium in 2001 and has a capacity of 8,125 spectators. The stadium surrounded by practice fields, administration buildings and four-star hotel. Background ASK Arena was built by AFFA in 2001. The first match played was a 2001–02 UEFA Cup first qualifying round between Shafa Baku and Olimija Ljubljana where the match ended 0–4. Gabala City Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Gabala, Azerbaijan. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Gabala FK. The stadium has an all-seated capacity of 2,000 spectators. It is planned to start the reconstruction of the stadium in 2012 and expand the capacity of the stadium up to 15,000 seats. Qabala
Qabala () is a city and the administrative centre of the Qabala District of Azerbaijan. The municipality consists of the city of Gabala and the village of Küsnət, Qabala, Küsnat. AZAL Stadium
AZAL Arena is a football stadium in the Shuvelan settlement of Baku, Azerbaijan. It was the home stadium of Shuvalan FK. The stadium holds 3,500 people and opened in 2011. Background The first game ever played at AZAL Arena was AZAL PFC - FK Baku (1:0), on April 10, 2011. Belarusian striker Gennady Bliznyuk scored a first goal at the stadium. On 17 February 2011, UEFA approved this stadium to be used for international football matches and gave 2 stars for the stadium category. Araz-Naxçıvan PFK () is an Azerbaijani professional football (soccer), football club based in Nakhchivan City, Nakchivan. The club played in the Azerbaijan Premier League again in 2014–15 Azerbaijan Premier League, 2014–15 after being promoted at the end of the 2013–14 Azerbaijan Premier League, 2013–14 season.
