Andrea Baldini (born 19 December 1985) is an Italian foil fencer, several time European and World champion and team Olympic champion in 2012. He is the only foil fencer in history to have obtained four golds (European and World - individual and team event) and the final victory in the World Cup in the same season. Biography 2003-07; # 1 world ranking He made his debut in the Senior World Cup in the 2003/2004 season and obtained an extraordinary second place in Vienna at the age of 18. In the following season, he won his first senior World Cup in Espinho, Portugal. Career At the age of 16 Shi reached the quarter-finals at the 2009 World Championships in Antalya after defeating Olympic champions Brice Guyart and Benjamin Kleibrink, but lost to Russia's Artem Sedov. Lei Sheng (; born 7 March 1984) is a Chinese left-handed foil fencer, six-time team Asian champion, 2012 individual Asian champion, two-time team world champion, three-time Olympian, and 2012 individual Olympic champion. Career Lei took up fencing because he liked Zorro. His results as a junior were unremarkable. The 2005–06 season saw his breakthrough: he climbed his first World Cup podium with a silver medal at La Coruña, followed by a victory at Espinho and a bronze medal at the Torino World Championships. Chen Haiwei (; born 30 December 1994) is a Chinese competitive foil fencer. He has won three medals (one gold, one silver, one bronze) at the Asian Fencing Championships, two medals (one silver, one bronze) at the Asian Games, and two medals (one silver, one bronze) at the World Fencing Championships. Vincent Simon (born 9 April 1990) is a French foil fencer, team European and team World champion in 2014. Career Simon took up fencing at the age of seven and trained at UJB Escrime in Saint-Dizier under Jérôme Roussat, Charles Roselet and Sylvain Privé. He joined in 2007 the centre for promising young fencers in Châtenay-Malabry and won a team bronze medal at the 2008 Junior World Championships in Acireale. Julien Mertine (born 26 June 1988) is a French right-handed foil fencer, four-time team European champion, 2014 team world champion, and 2021 team Olympic champion. Career Mertine took up fencing at the age of five with his father, a fencing master who trained amongst others World champion Victor Sintès. When he was eighteen he joined the centre for promising young fencers at Châtenay-Malabry. He earned a team bronze medal at the 2007 Junior European Championships in Prag and at the 2008 Junior World Championships in Acireale. In 2009 he was admitted into INSEP, a state-sponsored institution for high-performance athletes.
