2012 Wisconsin Lieutenant Gubernatorial Recall Election
The 2012 Wisconsin lieutenant gubernatorial recall election was held on June 5, 2012 to decide whether to retain or recall the lieutenant governor of Wisconsin. Voters decided to retain incumbent Republican lieutenant governor Rebecca Kleefisch over recalling her in favor of the Democratic candidate Mahlon Mitchell. Kleefisch's retention made her the first lieutenant governor in U.S. history to run in and survive a recall. Primary elections took place on May 8, 2012. The 2012 Wisconsin Fall General Election was held in the U.S. state of Wisconsin on November 6, 2012. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The Assembly is controlled by the Republican Party, as it has been for 28 of the past 30 years (only 2009-2010 are exceptions). From 2007 to 2018, Mason served as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly representing the city of Racine and eastern Racine County.
