2001 Quebec Municipal Elections
Several municipalities in the Canadian province of Quebec held elections on November 4, 2001, to elect mayors, reeves, and city councillors. Quebec

In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town. Worldwide, there is a wide variance in local laws and customs regarding the powers and responsibilities of a mayor as well as the means by which a mayor is elected or otherwise mandated. Gérald Tremblay
Gérald Tremblay (born September 20, 1942) is a former Canadian politician and businessman who served as mayor of Montreal from 2002 until his resignation in 2012. He also served as president of the Montreal Metropolitan Community. Before becoming mayor he had a long career in business and management. Tremblay resigned as Mayor on November 5, 2012, following allegations of corruption made at the Charbonneau Commission. Early life and career Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Tremblay grew up in Montreal, where his family moved when he was four years old. His parents, Georges Albert Tremblay, a notary, and Rollande Forest, had four boys: Michel, Gérald, Marcel, and François. Pierre Bourque (politician)
Pierre Bourque (born 29 May 1942) is a Canadian businessman and politician in Quebec. He founded the Vision Montreal political party and served as mayor of Montreal from 1994 to 2001. Background He was director of the Montreal Botanical Gardens from 1980 to 1994. Mayor of Montreal Bourque was the mayor of Montreal, Quebec from 1994 to 2001 (as the leader of the Vision Montreal party). Bourque proved eccentric and sometimes controversial as mayor. Longueuil () is a city in the province of Quebec, Canada. It is the seat of the Montérégie, Montérégie administrative region and the central city of the urban agglomeration of Longueuil. Joseph Mario Jacques Olivier, PC (born April 14, 1944) is a Canadian politician, businessman and labour leader. He was mayor of Longueuil, Quebec, from 2001 until 2005 and is a former Member of Parliament. Background and early career A hospital worker in his youth, Olivier was elected president of the trade union local at Charles-LeMoyne Hospital and treasurer of Quebec's National Federation of Hospital Employees. Mont-Saint-Michel () is a municipality in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada, part of the Antoine-Labelle Regional County Municipality. Geography The main population centre of Mont-Saint-Michel is located north of Mont-Laurier on the western banks of the Lièvre River. Its territory is characterized by a vast swamp and natural bog.
