The club is a founding member and shareholder of the Adriatic Basketball Association, and competes in the Adriatic League and the Croatian League. History Formation and early years Cibona's history dates to late autumn of 1945 when Sloboda (''Freedom'') was founded as a sports society of bank workers, craftsmen, traders, and clerks. On April 24, 1946 thanks to basketball enthusiast Branimir Volfer and his friends Ljubo Prosen and Joso Miloš, basketball section of Sloboda, the predecessor of today's Cibona, is formed. Kostas Rigas
Costas Rigas ( el, Κώστας Ρήγας),(born March 29, 1944 in Greece), is a retired Greek pro basketball player, and a former pro basketball referee. Rigas is a member of the EuroLeague's 50 greatest contributors. In 2013, he was enshrined into the FIBA Hall of Fame. Playing career Rigas played club basketball with Amyntas, in Greece. He also played with the youth national team of Greece, in one game. Reffing career In 1977, Rigas became an international referee, and throughout his career, he refereed 23 title games. The Peace and Friendship Stadium ( el, Στάδιο Ειρήνης και Φιλίας, Stadio Eirinis kai Philias), commonly known by its acronym SEF, is a multi-purpose indoor arena that is located in Piraeus, on the coastal zone of Attica, Greece.
