Joseph Safra ( ar, يوسف صفرا; 1 September 1938 – 10 December 2020) was a Swiss-based Lebanese Brazilian banker and billionaire businessman, who ran the Brazilian banking and investment empire, Safra Group. Joseph Safra was the chairman of all Safra companies, among them Safra National Bank of New York and Banco Safra headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil. In August 2020, ''Forbes'' reported Safra's estimated net worth at US$22.8 billion, the 52nd richest person in the world and richest in Brazil. Sasson Dayan is a Lebanese-born Brazilian banker and co-founder of Banco Daycoval. Biography Sasson was born on April 1, 1940 in Lebanon to a Jewish family where he worked at Casa Bancária Salim A. Dayan, a bank founded by his father. In the 1950s, he immigrated to Brazil. In 1958, he and his brother Ibrahim Dayan co-founded the stock brokerage Daycoval DTVM Ltda. The Tulip was a 305-metre observation tower proposed to be constructed on 20 Bury Street in the City of London. The Tulip is a proposal by Brazilian billionaire Jacob Safra, of the Safra Group, the owner of the adjacent 30 St Mary Axe, informally known as the Gherkin. The proposal was rejected on 11 November 2021. 30 St Mary Axe (previously known as the Swiss Re Building and informally known as the Gherkin) is a commercial skyscraper in London's primary financial district, the City of London. It was completed in December 2003 and opened in April 2004. With 41 floors, it is tall and stands on the sites of the former Baltic Exchange and Chamber of Shipping, which were extensively damaged in 1992 in the Baltic Exchange bombing by a device placed by the Provisional IRA in St Mary Axe, a narrow street leading north from Leadenhall Street.
