Because of health issues, Adam Lopez, the festival's founder and director, postponed the 18th Edition from 2024 to 2025. He stepped down as director, and in 2025, died after battling cancer. The 18th Edition of the Toronto After Dark Film Festival will take place October 15–19, 2025.
